Women's Ride and Run Series 2022 FAQ

What is the Women’s Ride and Run Series (WRRS)?
The Women’s Ride and Run Series is the in-game event component of Zwift’s larger Women’s History Month celebration.

It’s also your chance to be active while getting inspired. Throughout the month of March, we are celebrating the heroic, trailblazing women who have broken through barriers to help shape and progress women’s sports. Join our collection of women-only in-game events designed to get you moving.

What type of events are these and when are they?
In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Women’s Ride and Run Series kicks-off on International Women’s Day—Tuesday, March 8th.

Starting with energizing Power of the Pack rides and runs, events to follow include Tuesday Podcast Rides, Wednesday Workout of the Week, and Saturday Community Social Rides and Runs.

Which routes will we ride and run during the series?
This year, rides and runs throughout the series will feature multiple courses across different worlds within Zwift. Find the full details of routes, duration, and event times here.

Is this a race?
No. These women-only events are socially-paced community rides and runs intended to uplift and encourage women around the world. Ride, run, and connect with the women’s community in-game and IRL.

Empower one another, share Ride Ons, and meet new friends all month long!

Is there a new in-game kit?
Yes. All women who complete any Women’s Ride + Run Series event throughout the month will unlock a special edition 2022 Women’s Ride + Run Series Kit. Proudly show your commitment to making waves of change for women in sport all year long.

What’s the story behind the kit design?
The design of the 2022 Women’s Ride + Run Series kit is themed with ‘Making Waves’—symbolizing what has taken place in the past to progress women’s equality in sport and what is to come for future generations.

The colors represent both Zwift’s past and future commitment to progress in women’s sport, including our 4-year title sponsorship of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

Can I purchase the in-game kit and run top to wear in real life?
While we would love to rock the WRRS kit in real life, this year’s kit is only available in-game. However, there is a variety of Zwift gear available for purchase online.

How is Zwift giving back to organizations supporting women in sport?
Zwift has selected two non-profit organizations to support in 2022. We are donating $25,000 to the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) to support its mission of unlocking the possibilities for every girl and woman through the power of sport.

WSF is a leading voice driving equity in sport and has positively shaped millions of lives—from youth, high school and collegiate student-athletes to pros and coaches.

Zwift is also donating $25,000 to The Cycle Effect to support their mission to empower young women through mountain biking, create brighter futures, and build stronger communities. Over ⅔ of the young women participating in The Cycle Effect’s programs identify as Latina.

Additionally, Zwift has partnered with Latinas in Tech to connect, support, and empower its Latina employees and bring more diversity to tech.

Is there an in-game event requirement to unlock this donation?
The donation is already 100% unlocked. But don’t let that stop you from putting in the distance with the global women’s community.

How can I help support the Women’s Sport Foundation and The Cycle Effect?
You can make a donation of any size to the Women’s Sports Foundation or The Cycle Effect at any time here.

What else is Zwift doing to progress women’s equality within sports?
Zwift is committed to growing cycling participation everywhere—especially amongst women. Our flagship program, Zwift Academy, first launched as a women-only initiative back in 2016. Since then it has helped catapult 6 women to the professional level.

We’ve also committed to complete gender parity and, along with the ASO, delivered the first Virtual Women’s Tour de France in 2020—held on the same courses, covering the same distances, and with the same broadcast coverage as the men.

In June of 2021, Zwift announced a 4-year partnership with the Tour de France Femmes with the inaugural event taking place in July 2022. Of course, we continue to champion women in sport with women-only community groups, group rides and runs, campaigns, and races.

Why are WRRS events women only?
The WRRS is all about embracing Zwift’s female community. By creating an uplifting, supportive environment where women can meet and connect with one another, we believe it’s important to foster these relationships and connections with women-only events.

How can male allies support the WRRS?
Spread the word! We’d love the support of our male allies to promote the Women’s Ride and Run Series. Tell your female friends and follow the WRRS blogs and podcasts promoted throughout the month!
