Windows 10 Bluetooth Dongle Failure

I had a bluetooth (BT) dongle attached to my Windows 10 PC and it worked perfectly in the Zwift game. Suddenly the connection was lost. After testing with other PCs it seems like the dongle has permanently failed.

The problem is when I try a new dongle with my Zwift computer PC I can still not pair my trainer and other sensors even though my BT keyboard works fine. It seems as though Zwift is still trying to pair through the old dongle.

To get my BT keyboard working with the new dongle I had to delete some hidden file for Bluetooth in device manager related to the defunct dongle. But it seems Zwift has a proprietary BT connection. To me it is like Zwift is still trying to pair using the old dongle and as it is not there it is not working.

I just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to how I can get the game working through BT again?

I tried a full reinstall of the Zwift client but this made no difference.

Thanks in advance!

Zwift pairing information is stored in Documents\Zwift\knowndevices.xml and that file can be deleted.

The full process for a clean re-install of Zwift is here:

Thanks for the response. I tried deleting the known devices file and did a full re-install of the game but unfortunately it made no difference.

OK I don’t think I have a solution then. Always best to pick a dongle with a chipset mentioned in this review, which also has a few other tips.

Managed to sort this. I tried a new dongle (the hideez one suggested in the video). This worked without any issue. The problem was that the other BT dongle I tried would not work with fitness devices. TBH it was provided with a small BT keyboard and trackpad I had, it would allow another keyboard to connect to my PC (that was not provided with the dongle), must have been limited to keyboards only! Thanks @Paul_Southworth great video you shared BTW.
