Why no D category for men in races - women only

With a heavy heart I just cancelled my Zwift subscription after many years subs.

THE REASON When I want to race indoors, there is A, B, and C grade for men with only women allowed to enter D grade. I haven’t got a hope in C grade at 75 years old I and always do about 2.1 to 2.6wkg.

I never ride Zwift for the game scenery, only racing.

Have I got this wrong and just trying to race when D is not an option for men ?

The new Racing Score system allows men and women to race in pens A-E, unless an event has a special setup, such as being women only.

Are you talking about tour of Watopia? They arent races, the cats refer to length/difficulty of the route and anyone can join. A is longer, B medium, C short route, D is women only but the same medium route.

I think you have this wrong.
You are looking at a Tour of Watopia event where Rides A,B,C is open to all riders and differ in length only.

The D ride is a Womens only ride . I believe they ride the same route as group B.

You’ve got this spectacularly wrong.

In the Tour of Watopia rides (not races) the A, B and C are 3 separate distances and available for all. D category is the same distance as B category but open only to women.

It’s been like this for many years.

Give him a break, he is 75 yrs old. My dad is 80 and can barely use a tv remote.

Thanks for all the counselling folks.

I always assumed all “Events” were races but NOT so.

C grade worries me, any group C ride I’ve ridden saw me off the pack in 3 mins. Recently got Atrial Fibrillation Heart probs and had to give away outdoor races.

I’ll close this one down tomorrow.

Sad to hear you’re getting dropped in the Group C rides. Why not join some D rides? As others have said, the Tour of Watopia had only 3 categories for men, but most group rides seem to have A-D for everyone.

And I’m having lots of fun in the new E category for racing

Many events are social group rides with a leader who goes at a steady pace and makes an effort to keep the group together. There are typically assistants (sweepers) who help tow people back to the pack if they get dropped, or form a slower paced group behind the main pack. Some maintain that steady pace for an hour, others will encourage sprinting for segments, and some will announce an optional “race” in the last few kilometers.

Events like Tour of Watopia (and several others throughout the year) are leaderless group rides so some people treat them like races, but there will always be many people out for a cruise at whatever pace they want, and the field sizes in those events are large enough that you should be able to find some company at almost any pace.

If you are a Facebook user, I can recommend the Zwift Beginners group as a good place to ask questions about finding group rides or using the game. You might also be interested in the Cardiac Athletes group.
