Why is the LOCK-OUT Option Required for the KICKR MOVE with the Zwift Ride Smart Frame?

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the Zwift Cog and Click for my Wahoo KICKR MOVE. However, according to the “Zwift Ready Trainers” guide, it states:
“To use the Zwift Ride Smart Frame with the Wahoo KICKR MOVE, you’ll need to use the LOCK-OUT option to prevent movement on the trainer.”

Could someone explain why the LOCK-OUT option is necessary in this setup? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

There is no front wheel on the Ride frame

Hi @Satoshi_Konno, welcome back to the forums! This is Monica. As you mentioned in this article, I want to clarify that the LOCK-OUT option is intended for the Zwift Ride. Please note, as @Paul_Southworth pointed out, that the Zwift Ride does not include a front wheel.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us at support@zwift.com

What does the bottom of the Ride’s front stand look like, and/or is that stand/pole solid? Not recommending, but conceivably could one drill a hole up into it and stick in something like one of these?

Or hey, grease the floor

just stick the front peg leg into one of your kids old rollerblades, boom done

Zwift really needs to consider an adapter for the front leg to allow it to work with the MOVE. Wahoo did it for the Climb. It’s simple, easy to put on and works. I expect the Ride will require something a bit more sophisticated, but it can be done easily. They also should consider offering the sale to the Ride alone bc many of us already own a compatible trainer and don’t need the entry level Core.

They do offer the Ride by itself in UK/US/EU

Yes, but at full price suggesting the actual discount is coming from the CORE, not the Ride frame.

Correct, AFAIK there are no discounts on the frame alone. The price is what it is.
