Why doesn't pausing the membership stop the clock right away?

Hi all,
I’m a trail runner and pretty new to Zwift. I decided to get the Zwift Ride and to start Zwifting during the winter, to stay active. My monthly membership just renewed, and I got injured on the same day. I read that you can pause the membership for up to 8 weeks, so I went ahead and tried to do that, only to discover that you can pause ONLY after the billing cycle is finished. It doesn’t make sense to me, because in a couple of weeks I should be able to ride again and my billing cycle ends in 1 month. I thought the pause would stop the clock, not just the renewal date. Unless you’re heavily injured or lucky with dates, the pausing feature of this kind is pretty useless.

Its a pretty typical practice for any subscription or membership service. Most gyms work the same way, as do streaming services (netflix, etc.). You pay for the upcoming month, not the previous month.

Sorry you were injured! Hope you heal up fast.

Hello Mike,
thanks for the get-well wishes! :slightly_smiling_face:

I agree. It’s a typical practice for many businesses. However, they don’t usually offer a pause feature. I was simply arguing that, unless you’re a clairvoyant and you pause a month ahead of an injury or are just lucky with dates, there’s no real benefit in the pause feature. It does nothing that cancelling the membership wouldn’t cover, except restarting the billing automatically. And you might not want that.

I was just surprised because I misunderstood the feature and I started thinking out loud.

Cheers! :beers:
