What are the 10 Changes you would like to see in Zwift?

This is already the case. The Tour de Zwift events that do allow the Coffee Break are group rides, not races.

A lot of people consider the open events competitive. Those are fun to attack when I feel like it. I understand why people might feel that these types of events should have no Coffee Break.

That said, I think the current Coffee Break functionality (being in events and not races/workouts) is fair.

Speaking of competitive versus non-competitive, it would be nice to be able to shut off leaderboards on events to encourage better grouping on events that aren’t meant to be competitive. That is ā€œyou can sprint all you want to the arch, but nothing will show up to stroke your ego on the leaderboard for this eventā€. I think that social rides that are social in nature should have more options for social enforcements, such as:

  1. Disable leaderboards option for event coordinators - Sprint/KOM segments do not populate results.
  2. Blocked fence option (riders can ride at the fence all they want, but never break through it) - effectively nerfing speed for whatever excess watts they may be providing based on X time set ahead of the leader. The autobraking feature could be adjusted to support this in the algorithm. You want a group ride where you put down 4.2W/kg in a 1.3W/kg group with no fear of being zapped? Be our guest. Then people could get whatever training they are looking to get and still keep in range of their friends, without the effects of a rubberband impacting drafting of other riders.
  3. Allowing visibility of all riders in an event even if they aren’t within the nearest 100 - great for sweepers especially in a sweep team to be better seen in a peloton.
  4. An option to interact with the ZwiftApp mini map (not just Companion) for those sweep situations - a sweep team identifies they could use some strong support, and on the mini map, you could zoom in and zoom in more and select a dot in the region (easy with a mouse) of those riders to jump to the fan view of that rider, so you can see how far off they are from you.
  5. And for that social aspect, a method to interact with Private Messages in the ZwiftApp and not have to use Companion.
  6. And if relegated to use Companion to interact with Private Messages, when a keyboard is bound to that Companion device (such as iPhone), after pressing the ā€œEnterā€ key to send text in the Companion, have it so that the text cursor rehomes to the input field so that you can continue typing directly into Companion with a keyboard versus having to tap the input field in the Companion just to use the keyboard.
  7. Late join misrouting which still occurs sometimes - make it stop, sometimes riders who late join still turn the wrong direction.
  8. An option for event coordinators to un-limit the time on late joins, especially useful for long events like Fondos where one ride leader may do part of it, and another might be able to do more of it if they were able to late join.
  9. Regardless of whether a route ends before a timed event does, determine the routing of all of the group riders until the event ends - no turning left and right after being dumped off of routes like Canopies and Coastlines and many other shorter routes. A ā€œdefault leftā€ or ā€œdefault rightā€ for those ā€œif all else is unknownā€ situations, or some other method.
  10. A way to report naughty Zwifters aside of the few options provided. Tech Doping is a thing that I have often observed, unfortunately ā€œgamers are going to gameā€ - and this type of stuff should be easier to report aside from just ā€œHarassmentā€ ā€œFliersā€, etc to help improve platform results equitability. Right now, there is an external online form for this, but ā€œFile a Post-Event Complaintā€ or something in Companion to report them directly after the event in the ZwiftApp or Companion with more granularity of what people currently report through a form (and then have to go into Zwift Power, determine Zwifter ID, etc) would be very helpful. The event ID and Zwifter data would then be snapshotted for any analysis, however necessary.

I really don’t like having to use a separate device with a touch screen (especially with sweaty fingers) for in-game communications when I have access to a keyboard and mouse.

So, I guess that in addition to my ā€œten changesā€ above, this makes 20.

This sounds like a great suggestion for fence enforcement - and is possibly the best use for auto braking that I’ve heard so far.

I’m curious to see if there’s any consensus.

What in-game feature or business policy would you like to see for the following:

  • Something that you feel Zwift should do as soon as possible but that you’re not likely to use.
For me - it’s a block/mute rider feature. I’m not likely to need it, but it would make the lives of many so much nicer.

  • Something that would make you genuinely happy.
More fun stuff. For example - double strength power ups for setting a personal best.

  • Something that you’d like to see, but that you can wait for.
Garage organization. I visit the garage every other month or so, mostly to grab the latest kit.

So, how about you?

HUD customisation
make the gradient graph much much better
mention gradient somewhere, anywhere in companion app (extra points if they put a better gradient graph in there somewhere)
customise the stats in the companion app dashboard - avg power, 10s power, avg cadence etc etc

this stuff has needed doing since day 1 (except the gradient graph, that used to be much better and they made it worse!)

In no particular order:

  1. More categories and more dynamic categories so more people feel part of the race.

  2. Better enforcement of people with clearly bad numbers, crazy weight changes, or other cheats.

  3. Expansion of existing worlds rather than new worlds

  4. More gamification with power ups. Like the longer i have one but don’t use it the longer it lasts or more beneficial it is, or other random things like that.

  5. More tools to allow creation of different race formats, like elimination races, points races but you can see points real-time, relays, etc.

Blocking users (and more effective reporting/banning of harassers) needs to happen sooner rather than later. And I know they’re working on it, but I’ll keep being a pebble in the shoe until it happens. Zwift does not feel safe for many people thanks to the harassment from other users.

Genuinely happy? Customizable kit would be nice. Let more small clubs, local shops etc have custom kit.

Like to see but can wait a bit? Mt. Fuji. (In Makuri, not climb portal)

I’m taking a bit more of a pessimistic view these days and want them to just ditch the current version and move on to Zwift 2.0. I’m half convinced that the reason long standing feature requests (customization, privacy, etc., etc) can’t be done is because they’re so baked into the game that doing anything would just break so much more.

Subscriptions for runners

Maybe I don’t understand what you are demanding, but I always use the in game chat and everything GUI with keyboard and mouse.

Private in-game chat is only available on the companion app. And the on screen chat messages are a mess when they appear on top of each other and it is sometimes difficult to see who said what. (I rarely care about the chat myself but on occasion I do have to pick up the phone and open the companion app just for that.)

Private messages do not work without Companion. You can see them, but not reply. This is infuriating.

agree. a ā€œmute for this sessionā€ type feature would be cool too. i might have nothing against a person but just wanna not listen to them talk about forex or NFTs for an hour in a given ride. or someone is in a bad mood and everyone has to know about it. i am that type of person myself so i understand how much of a pain in the ass that can be from both sides

That would be nice. Being able to mute individual people, and also being able to set an individual ride as ā€˜invisible’. That’s something people have asked for before that I support. Flip a switch for that ride, and you don’t show up in your friends’ feeds as even doing an activity. Stealth mode.

Private messages require the companion app.

I would rather see all clubs and teams lose custom kit. I don’t have it, you don’t have it. Keeps everyone equal.

The person at Zwift who deals with this stuff didn’t seem to understand that some clubs don’t just hand out kit to anyone who wants it, it’s only on application and by doing IRL rides with them on big events.

Just promoting on social media and getting people to sign up isn’t that…

quite a few teams do this already. two of the clubs i’m in, wtrl and rhino, do it this way. the club owner sends zhq a list of rider IDs once a week or so and the kit is added manually. i can think of a few more off the top of my head that also do this, so i think it just comes down to team/club preference

But to even get a custom kit in Zwift you need a Zwift club that has:

  • 250 members or more
  • A high rate of engagement on Zwift by club members over an extended period of time.

I am quoting the email sent to me by the relevant person from Zwift.

I didn’t bother replying to her email and told the club to forget about the Zwift idea and better spend their time elsewhere. They will focus just on IRL events.

In the time it took to find out the above (from Feb 23 to Nov 23) we already had our IRL kit produced and in the hands of riders (and at numerous IRL events).

If the idea was to drive more engagement with Zwift, it had the opposite effect.

I’m not likely to ever need the Block feature. But for the people who do need this, it would make their experience exponentially better. This is definitely something I would advocate for, even though I’m (hopefully) never going to be in a position to need it.

Being able to complete more than 1 route, with the badge achievement, in the same ride session, would make me genuinely happy. I haven’t done most of the shortest routes because I don’t want to do different sessions for each of them. Let me do Duchy Estate, then pull a U-Turn, and complete Queen’s Highway, rather than making me do this as two separate rides. Let me string together 5 or 6 Makuri Island routes that I haven’t done (or 16, though I probably wouldn’t do all 16 at once)
Having a Route to Start would be an amazing addition for this as well. You’re doing a ride, then maybe you decide you want to do a specific route; being able to select an option that routes (or teleports I suppose) you to the start of that route would be excellent. My Wahoo Element can do that in the real world; would be great if Zwift could do it in theirs.

I’d love to see Custom Routes that can be saved, but I can wait for that one. Custom RoboPacers would be great too (want to do the Alpe in a specific time, or complete the Mega Pretzel in a specific time; set an RP for that time, and use the bot to pace you correctly all the way), but I don’t really have any hope for that one.

I’ll also add a fourth category … Something that’s been requested for a very long time and seems ridiculous that it hasn’t been addressed yet.
I’d go with the elevation profile, which is really difficult to read, and garage management. I’m never riding such-and-such bike again, let me put it away. I’m not likely to ever wear that jersey or hat, let me put them in a separate ā€œdrawerā€ to reduce the clutter.

All that said, the lack of those things isn’t stopping me from using Zwift. Though again, the lack of a Block feature is, I’m sure, causing other people to leave it rather than putting up with the harassment. So while I’d love to see those features (and a whole host of others), ultimately, they can all go into the ā€œCan wait forā€ bucket.
