Wattages in workouts

So when I ride with a team on my workouts my wattage for some reason is way higher and I don’t know why. But when I’m not doing a meet up or a work out it’s hard for me to do those wattages. Is there something I’m doing wrong? When set it to erg it just makes it easier to go those wattages but then once I go slower my bike completely stops and I can’t ride. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Sorry I know this sounds super confusing.
