Walking

When using Zwift it seems to me that the speed for the avatar to start running is too high. It should be jogging at 6 KPH at the very least. It is very off putting for people who are jogging, albeit slowly but none the less working hard to see their avatar walking. There are some slow joggers out there who need the incentive .

Yes! I totally agree. I’m not fast but I work hard and try to get stronger. Frustrating to be running and my avatar is walking.

Please read the discussion on the Zwift Runners facebook page on February 4, 2018.  Many, many comments about the issue of the avatar walking when we’re actually running on the treadmill.  Ideally, in settings, let us determine the pace at which our Avatar would start running?  If you can’t individualize, then please lower the pace.  It seems better to have the Avatar run too soon for the slower runners, than walk too late for the faster runners.  Thank you!

It seems like a simple formula combining HR and cadence could help to determine a person’s effort regardless of their speed to determine run/walk animation.

I am reasonably fast for a distance runner and even so I find it annoying to see my avatar walking during warm-ups and cool-downs in the 8+ km/h range. I’ve also passed cyclists on hills. I’m sure they feel bad enough being passed by runners. Being passed by a walker has got to be a whole other level of demoralizing.

I wholeheartedly agree!!! when I slow down to get my HR under control it is very disheartening to see my avatar walking 11:30 min/mile when I am running (even if slowly) I am still working hard!!! come on! I know I am a float hammer shuffle triathlete but I need a little more encouragement than seeing my avatar walking when I am running slowly!

Another runner who wants this fixed.  I will start at 11:30 pace …stay steady the entire time per zwift - and for the first 1/2 mile she walks then all of the sudden starts running.  i haven’t changed my pace per zwift or TM cadence is the same.  Weird.  BTW - my nick name is metronome as I am super consistent.
