I switched now back to a shimano 10s cassette and this works fine too with my old Campa Record 10.
for all those, having this problem:
just switch to Virual Shifting with Zwift Play Controllers and you don’t have to change gears on the bike. Just use the Standard Cassette from the Wahoo Kickr.
Problem solved without any work.
Hi all, I have read through all the above posts but struggling how to solve this one…
I have an old Wilier (trestina escape, circa 2007) with a capag mirage cassette - I want to use this on the Wahoo Kickr Move…however understand the 8 arm issue and compatibility problems. I am trying to find out if I can find a way to get this to be compatible with the shimano cassette that comes with the Kickr. Is anyone able to help please? I’m only intending on using this bike indoors now (its sole purpose is indoor training, I will not be taking it on the road especially if i’m messing about with cassette changes) - It doesn’t need to be perfect, just bearable…!
From research so far it looks like there is a possibility it might work with a shimano 10-speed cassette with spacers?
Help appreciated!
Virtual shifting would be a better solution. You can use the included Shimano cassette without changing physical gears and pair it with the Zwift Click shifter or Play controllers (if you are in US/UK/EU where they are available). If the chain is old, install a new one.
Thank you - this does sound like the simplest (and quickest) solution!
Hi @Jo_Mourant_TTT, welcome to the forums.
I’m Fernanda from Zwift.
I couldn’t miss the chance to help you in this matter, I want to reinforce the easiest option to upgrade the Wahoo KICKR MOVE with the virtual shifting using the Zwift Cog as a universal cassette compatible with your bike.
In this case, you will need to take off the free hub body of the Zwift Cog and use your Waho KICKR MOVE freehub, you can see the process of changing the freehub of the Zwift Cog in this video.
This way you can mount your bike without any issues on your trainer and also enjoy virtual shifting!
Kepp us posted.
Is that a 9- or 10-speed setup? For 9-speed (which I think Mirage still was around that time) you can just use a Shimano cassette directly.
Its a 10 speed set up - I’ve put it on the shimano cassette - its does work albeit a bit slippy (bike isn’t going to be ridden outside and isn’t worth much!) - I’m wondering if a shimano chain will help resolve it?
Thanks Fernanda - however I’m not clear from the above as it seems to be conflicting? the second part of the above says to use the wahoo freehub not the zwift freehub? Also would this work if there are 8 inner arms on the cogs? and would the virtual shifting allow me to use ERG? thanks for your help
The Campagnolo cassette does not have uniform spacing between cogs. The Shimano cassette does.
The Zwift Cog upgrade kit comes with the Cog installed on a freehub that is designed for the Zwift Hub trainer. To use it on a Kickr you would remove the Cog from the freehub it comes with, and install it on the Kickr’s freehub.
Virtual shifting is disabled when you are using ERG mode.
