I’ve been using the Zwift Cog + Click for the last 2 weeks after using the traditional cassette for years. Does anyone else feel that the jumps between gears aren’t realistic? Maybe it’s something that will be improved over time with a firmware update. I ride bikes with both mechanical and electronic shifting IRL, so I’m used to a more subtle feel between one gear to the next. Virtual shifting is still new to me, but it just doesn’t feel very real.
I’m in full agreement. I bought a Kickr move, so I could get virtual shifting. It’s horrible. It doesn’t feel realistic at all. Now I’m hearing reports that virtual shifting may not be reliable with your power output. I went back to regular shifting. I don’t plan on switching back until Wahoo can fix this mess. I’m so disappointed. Should have stayed with my Kickr V5.
Virtual gearing feels broken in the little ring, like changing gear gives a big jump in resistance and then it fades to nothing. In the big ring they react like real gears in terms of the resistance - and if you google a couple of sites have the ratios - they’re really tight (and I say that as someone who has a junior cassette with 14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21-23-25-28 so I’m used to very close gearing)
So, if you followed zwifts instructions to use the little ring, try the big ring instead.
There is newer firmware coming at some unspecified date to fix issues with virtual gearing and autocalibration that you might see in other threads talking about the virtual gears.
Yes, that’s exactly how it feels!
I may give the BIG ring a try if I remember.
Same here: virtual shifting is a poor imitation of real shifting with big jumps in resistance between gears - particularly when moving up. This happens even when going fast it downhill - I still get a big jump in resistance moving gear - completely unrealistic. It also makes sprinting difficult as can’t change up without slowing down due to the big resistance jump and subsequent loss of cadence.
I hope there is an update very soon to fix this other wise I will have to return the Zwift Ride and go back to real shifting
