What’s this all about?
There seem to be moments, following a video recording being made by the system, where it stops us from starting a new recording, briefly. (Just speculating based on observations from recent rides.)
Did this last for a long time? Mine were quite short, before the function became available again.
It was there for my entire hour ride.
Doesn’t seem to work on my Ryzen 5 5600 (non-X). Is it on the list?
still being rolled out for some people, not everyone has it but the ryzen 5 is on the compatible list
Yeah. I must be in the other 50%.
Thanks for reporting this! If the button was disabled the whole ride, that is unexpected (as mentioned by someone else above, it should only be briefly disabled immediately after capturing a video screenshot).
I’ll reach out to you directly to get some additional information.
Starting today, Video Screenshots is now available for 75% of the following devices:
- Intel Core i3 (10th Generation and newer)
- Intel Core i5 (9th Generation and newer)
- Intel Core i7 (9th Generation and newer)
- Intel Core i9 (9th Generation and newer)
- AMD Ryzen 5
- AMD Ryzen 7
- AMD Ryzen 9
Quick follow-up on this one:
We’ve identified an issue (on our end) specific to multi-monitor setups where Video Screenshots on Windows may be disabled when Zwift is running on a non-“main” display (you can configure in Windows which display is considered your main display). We’ll have a fix for this in an upcoming game release, but in the meantime, you can work around this issue either moving Zwift to your main display, or changing your main display to the one where you’re running the game.
have the video screenshots enabled on my machine, didnt notice any lag when it did a video at the top of crow road
i3 10105F
1660ti
m2 ssd
8gb ram
so thumbs up from me
This feature is not very well optimized. You can clearly see where I turned video screenshots off and when I turned them back on again. I cap FPS at 75 generally so I’m not sure how high it would’ve been running during the “off” time but well over 75.
Are you seeing stuttering when the video is being recorded?
Can’t say, I didn’t record any video screenshots. That’s just overhead for the process running.
The video is always being recorded. It’s only saved at special moments or when you press the button, but since it saves the previous 15 seconds, that means it’s always on. The recording part has some CPU impact. The saving part is probably more about storage I/O performance than CPU.
The video is always being recorded
That’s what I was referring to as the “overhead.” And “I didn’t record any video screenshots” just means I didn’t click the button to save any, and nothing sufficiently noteworthy-to-Zwift happened while I had it turned on so none were auto-saved.
Hey @calfzilla, thank you for reporting this. As mentioned above, video recording is an active process which does consume some resources, but the impact you’re seeing on your machine is quite a bit higher than average (we’re seeing an average of 5-7 FPS reduction on 10th Gen Intel Core i5s). But your data is totally valid, so we’ll dig into this more; I’ll message you directly to get some more information about your setup.
Feature request for the forum: allow uploading Zwift video screenshots to the forum for the purpose of reporting bugs etc. As it is I’ll have to upload to YouTube or convert to gif

Video captures are currently recorded at a maximum resolution of 720p (regardless of in-game resolution).
