Use of Garmin XC100 pedals and dumb trainer

Hi! My Saris H3 smart trainer is going in for repair/service, and I will have to revert to a dumb trainer for a while. I plan to fit my Garmin Rally XC100 pedals to give me power data. My question is this - can I connect the pedals to Zwift as both the power source and cadence sensor? and if so, will Zwift show me power, speed and motion on the map? Hopefully the H3 will be back soon!

Thanks in advance!

Rob

Yes.

May I ask what is up with the H3? Mine is going on 5-6 years and when it starts giving problems…EOL unless I can fix myself. Not worth the service/shipping cost to fix when a new one is $400 or less. But I am in the US.

Sure you can pair a power meter to Zwift

Hi Chris. The H3 is making load clicking noises which match the speed of the flywheel (ie not the pedalling cadence). I replaced the belt a while ago which helped for a while but now the noise is back. It’s done 27000km and is around 5 years old.

Yes I agree - but I’m not sure if I can pair it as a cadence sensor at the same time, and what the end result will be in Zwift.

That should work as well, though cadence is optional in Zwift so you’ll be riding as long as it gets a power reading.
