Turn the music off on the startup screen.

I knight thee Sir james c

The Music Hack does not longer works on the mac. Please give us an opportunity to turn off the Startup Music, I get nervous breakdown soon

You can manage the volume control through the menu > settings screen once you’ve started a biking session.

Please give us the option to turn the music off.  It irritates me to the point of anger.

Please! We need an option for no start-up music!

How did they come up with this god awful muzac. I cannot fathom how why any human should be subjected to this cruel and unusual auditory insult. Its really giving me a very negative nauseated association with the software.

@graham, that music has been torturing me for nearly two years. I am trying to comprehend the decision-making culture that allowed someone – even if it was the CEO – to select that rift and spew it all over a captive audience. Imagine being in a meeting where someone said, “I finally found our lead-in music, _just wait until you hear this!” _And then it was played. And then nobody dared to say, “Are you out of your mind, that’s the worst mixed tape that’s ever dropped!” If anyone knows what Room 101 is, this is the music that O’Brien will be playing when he turns up the dial.

This is not the most intuitive setting, but the 3D world volume slider is actually the one that controls the startup screen music. If you move it all the way to the left, it mutes the music.

Hey Ernest, thanks for chiming in. Its all a bit mystifying to me. Overall the Zwift idea is good and well executed. I have some connectivity issues, but that is about it, the virtual world is good enough to draw me in and make me pump my legs and suck air. However, the peripheral interface is fantastically annoying. Why is there a squirrel?, what does that possibly add? Why are all the GUI buttons so big and either useless (Eg. search) or unintuitive? Why are all the component softwares (website, world, ZML) so different in terms of functionality? I could go on. The music though is just beyond the pale, its so bad that I question its legality. When connectivity issues have me sitting there in my spandex repeatedly rebooting apps, phones and computers the music induces homicidal notions. The worst is that I have it turned down in settings and it still comes on.

is it possible to dig into the files and delete the sample?

@neil rosson - Here is a little gem for you to turn off the music, but not the background sounds (thumbs up)

I changed the file extension on 777200017.wem in Program Files (x86)>Zwift>data>Audio>PC to .tmp

Cheers

Thanks work a treat, i thought it would be one of these files, saves me trying to find the right one.

I dont get it WHERE do I see a " 3D world volume slider" as described by Jason K.'s official ZWIFT comment !?

The “3D world volume slider” is available under menu/settings and only when you are in the game-world (not on the start-screen). @Simon Hügly

And it is what it says. Yes, the startscreen-music is actually linked to the same volume-control than the environmental sound of the game. Nice thinking there, zwift developers.

This is about as intuitive as having no overall game-settings on the start-screen or as not being able to reply directly to comments in this forum. Come on, zwift, you can show some effort for the crackpot 15 € / month you charge for an iPad-Game.

I thought the new menu screen music for the Alpe du Zwift update is just as terrible, and can be got rid of in the same way as previously mentioned but changing the file named  2221789.wem to .tmp instead.

Found in the same place:  Program Files (x86)>Zwift>data>Audio>PC

Thanks, Jenny! works to me

http://zwiftinsider.com/turn-off-zwifts-startup-music-easy-hack/  this worked for me. I lasted one ride with the music and sounds, that was enough.
