Its been some months since I last mounted the Kickr and Zwifted, so you can imagine that getting all ready and changed I was disappointed when my Kickr would pair with my computer but transmit no data (cadence or power) and generates no resistance. Google shows that many have lost their Kickrs to this problem and it seems Wahoo has stopped providing any real support for this quality problem.
I did all the things: all of the re-pair, firmware, app reinstalls, and it’s coming down to an internal hardware failure in the trainer. It pairs on BT but fails to do anything else functional.
So today I learned about the Direct Connect option. My Kickr has the RJ11 port.
Q1: for anyone who’s had this Kickr communication failure, did you get around it using either the direct connect or ANT+ communication instead?
Q2: Looking at the Direct Connect kit, which means me regretfully sending another $100 to Wahoo, it seems that it’s a glorified RJ-45 to RJ-11 patch cable. Has anyone made a patch cable or can test theirs to say which terminals on the RJ-45 connect to which terminals on the RJ-11?
