Triathlon Australia Zwift Series

Triathlon Australia Ride Series 2 - Ride Leader Report

We had 350 starters, predominantly from Australia but were pleased to welcome some new friends from around the globe.

The course was 3 laps of Volcano Flat. The main aim of the ride is to have a CRUISY, FUN ride and chat with some of Triathlon’s leading ladies and gents. The first two laps were ridden as a 2.0 w/kg bunch, the third an optional test-your-legs against the pros.

This ride featured;

3 x Ironman World Champion (and world record holder) Craig ‘Crowie’ Alexander. Leading ITU athletes Brandon Copeland, Marcel Walkington, Aaron Royle, Jonathan Goerlach and the lovely Charlotte McShane.

We were also lucky to have the services of Triathlon Australia President Michelle Cooper, who acted as sweeper despite taking part in the PRL race immediately prior!

Many watched the live-stream where Jesse and Jason had in-ride conversations to Craig Alexander and the mysterious ‘Bear’ ride-leader. The banter amongst the bunch was lively, with much talk of Peanut and Nutella donuts.

On lap 3, some tested their legs. Some sensational performances from the pros and juniors. Many chose to cruise home with the ‘mellow-yellow’ beacon at 2 w/kg. Cam Napper (AHDR) eventually took line honours (and with it, the coveted Peanut Butter and Nutella donut virtual trophy).

Shout-out’s this week go to;
Junior athlete Connor Richards for a strong performance in the hot-lap, Iain Jones and Jon Pettingill for sweeping, and Frank for coming along to ride with his famous daughter.

All welcome on the next ride on Sunday, June 7th at 0930 Eastern Australian Standard Time. Hope to see you then.

See you soon. The ‘Bear’.
