We’re making double XP available for all live events because rolling with friends is just better! Please note, ride will be available in both live events & on-demand, run will only be available in live events. Join us in celebrating Zwift’s incredible community while you rack up extra XP!

Prefer to ride solo? You’ll still earn 1.5x XP for on-demand events. Having Tour of Watopia on-demand gives you the flexibility to ride on your own time. You can select any stage to compete on-demand by selecting the tile in the Challenges row on the Homescreen. Complete an on-demand ride and take advantage of 1.5 times the XP (cycling only)!

There is no limit to the amount of XP that you can earn. Hop on your favorite Tour routes and level up!

We are bringing you special edition fun unlocks to celebrate Tour of Watopia and our 10-year anniversary! You will unlock the road shoes at 20% completion, the cap at 60%, and the cycling kit at 100%!

For runners, you will unlock the sneakers during Stage 1 & 2, the bikepacker cap during stage 3 & 4, and the running kit during stage 5.

Plus as an added bonus, you will unlock the socks by completing the Monthly Mission. To learn more about the Monthly Mission, click here.

There will be five stages of Tour of Watopia:

Stage 1: October 15, 2024 @ 16:00 UTC - October 22, 2024 @ 15:00 UTC

Stage 2: October 22, 2024 @ 16:00 UTC - October 29, 2024 @ 15:00 UTC

Stage 3: October 29, 2024 @ 16:00 UTC - November 5, 2024 @ 16:00 UTC

Stage 4: November 5, 2024 @ 17:00 UTC - November 12, 2024 @ 16:00 UTC

Stage 5: November 12, 2024 @ 17:00 UTC - November 19, 2024 16:00 UTC

Make-up Week: November 19, 2024 @ 17:00 UTC - November 25, 2024 @ 05:00 UTC

All Zwifters will have access to Stage 5 starting November 12, 2024. While the routes are available, they will not count towards stage 5 (on-demand only) of Tour of Watopia until November 12, 2024 @ 17:00 UTC when group events start.

Late join will be enabled for Tour of Watopia, but we recommend joining at the start of a group ride.

So excited for this tour. Especially for the new routes. Just curious, one website said: “Even after 10 years, not all of Watopia has been revealed, but it will be on November 12 as part of the 2024 Tour of Watopia” The fact that it said that ALL will be revealed then makes it sound like this will be the last expansion to Watopia.
That said, so excited to ride it. Thanks for all the hard work you do.

Also in the Tour of Watopia card on Zwift it says Stage 5 is from October 15-November 25 just like the others when I KNOW it doesn’t start until the 12th of November because the new route won’t be available until then. It was correct on Tour of Makuri Islands when Urukazi was released. Just letting you know.

Somewhat interesting that for the first stage you get the same amount of bonus XP for both the long and standard ride (both 30km long so both rides will give the exact same bonus XP), and actually less bonus XP on the long route on the second stage vs. the standard length route (though you will get the spin at the top of the Alpe so that will net you more XP).

Would be nice if that alpe spin got you 1.5x the Alpe Spin XP :slight_smile:

Maybe another idea about where this new road is going is since it’s Zwift’s 10 year anniversary they’ll create a long road from the Volcano to a Jarvis Island expansion and along the way on the long causeway/road of sorts there’s things from Watopia’s history so a time traveling expansion. I know this seems very repetitive because it’s creating an expansion to resemble each of Zwift’s other expansions but what I mean is you can do DIFFERENT THINGS with the same biome/feel (not exactly repeating them) and the expansion (near volcano) starts off with a Velodrome to represent Fall 2024 (so the newest expansion) and then you go on a long, time traveling highway through each of the biomes and then at the end waiting for you is Jarvis Island where you can do laps of Zwift’s original island. Or it could just be a long road with various scenery (not necessarily resembling past expansion) going around the island and at the end will be Jarvis Island. Kind of like: The road to the past and origins of Zwift.

For the very many people over L100, what difference does the double XP give? That is with any certainty that you won’t change the XP system again?

It doesn’t make any difference to anyone.

It was the only idea they had though so they ran with it.

That spin and win thing was the best thing they ever did. It would have been amazing for thjs.
With 14k riders at 19:00 UK time yesterday and all the fuss over 10 year rides, I was going to buy a Zwift Ride. Wattbike here I come. I can’t see this lastly and this is really hard to type as I adore Zwift. The ideas have run out.

Just a reminder if you’re like me and didn’t put 2 and 2 together.

At the end of a Tour of Watopia stage, as long as you don’t manual turn off the route, you will get 30XP per km (50XP per km if you are on accelerated leveling). I assume this is the 1.5 times XP multiplier that you get for free riding on an official Tour of Watopia route.

I just did stage 1 and am on accelerated leveling, I got 30XP notices after the finish of the ride not 50XP notices. I get confused with how accelerated leveling works (lol) with the extra 20 XP show up during the ride or only afterwards. Is there any way to check to see which way this is working?

yes although it’s somewhat confusing. i think you will see +40xp on screen (Double for the tour events) but find in the background your xp requirements to level up will have dropped 60xp

Zwift chose not to publish results for ToW events. You can see results in ZwiftPower, for whatever that is worth. A lot of riders don’t register for ZwiftPower so it doesn’t answer the question very well.
