I did not get 2X XPs on Stage Three of the ToW. I have not received those credits. What to do next?
Everyone dropped me on the first climb, does that count?
(No, it does not, as that is nowhere near a ‘surprise’ )
Hi, i have completed all the rides in each stage of the ToW apart from one and have recieved double xp points for all the rides completed except for climbers gambit is stage 3. My only conclusion is that i completed the same ride on the 1st october, the day prior to the event starting and am guessing that this has somehow stopped the double xp points being issued for that ride.
I have ridden Stages 1 to 3 but I can’t seem to access Stage 4. The progress bar shows I’ve completed 60%. Is there a bug or am I doing something wrong, and if so, what am I doing wrong?
I complete stage 4 Road to Ruins free ride the other day and it worked. Have you tried another route?
I did the Big Loop yesterday. I didn’t get the banner at the finish but I’m now 80% complete and eagerly awaiting the new road for Stage 5.
You can also do the race events in free ride and get double XP
Does anyone know if auto-swap to MTB is enabled for the Stage 4 events? I don’t see anything mentioned in the Tour of Watopia details in the companion app or on zwift.com, so I’m assuming it’s not enabled. Figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask, even so!
No, you have to manually stop and switch
Figured as much, but thanks for confirming!
For the manual stop and switch, just press letter A on keyboard when close to the switch over, this will open pairing screen and give you fast braking. Then go back to the menu, open your garage and do lightning speed change-over of bikes, recommend the Canyon Lux (Canyon is close to top of the alphabet).
Click it twice to make sure it selects then on your way. I do this for Road to Sky to get through the boring gravel section more quickly.
When you want to change back, repeat the procedure.
Also keep in mind that there is very little difference in overall time on the route between a gravel bike and a mountain bike (assuming no bike swap). The amount of paved road at the start is not that much. The gravel bike gets more draft effect than the mountain bike and you might be riding with others in an event this big. The gravel bike climbs better but rolls slower so it will be noticeably worse on the dirt descents and flat sections. But once the lead-in is over the route is about 50% climbing. Given the time cost of doing the bike swap, if you want to skip the bike swap during the event I would pick the gravel bike.
I’ve done the swap before and totally understand the time differences - I get that it isn’t necessarily worth the time it takes to stop and swap, especially if one’s riding in a large group coming into the dirt. For me it’s more of a psychological thing, and I swap only if I’ve fallen off the back of the group and need that little boost!
Don’t forget that Zwift has made changes to the auto-braking when you stop pedaling, ie reduced the speed at which auto-brake kicks in so it takes longer to roll to a stop if you don’t use the “opening the pairing screen” method of stopping.
I haven’t tested how well stopping works on the jungle route with these changes but it’s something you may need to be aware of especially entering into the jungle as it’s a slight downhill.
Just use the pairing screen method, trust me - I use it daily on Road to Sky to do bike swap just at the start of the paved part where you turn to go onto AdZ.
I usually get the bike swap done in well under 10 seconds.
I start road to sky with MTB - it is reasonably fast downhill on the descent to start of the gravel part.
I wonder if the pairing screen method will disappear some day… hope not!
@Aoi_Niigaki Thanks for the reminder - I haven’t been using Zwift too much over the past few months, so I’d forgotten about these changes. I do always use the pairing screen method when time is of the essence, but this is a good reminder for when I’m trying to slow to a stop during “normal” rides and start wondering why it’s taking longer than expected.
used the coffee stop coming out of the jungle and came to a complete stop, wouldn’t have expected that to happen
Why do I have a ZP on the tour of watopia run 3?
I had cadence-hr and a very average pace?
Because you came in top 3. Been going on for last year and although James might have tried to sort I think it s because TOW events are set up as no ZPower podium and you did.
