It is true, depending on what ‘a lot’ means.
It’s definitely worth doing your workout on the Alpe if you get the 1000XP bonus
It’s marginally worth doing it on the Alpe if you don’t get the bonus spin.

There can be only one
Double XP is one of those things that sounds great, especially when your XP is low, so that you can level up faster. Arguably, this meant something more when users earned better bikes and wheels at higher levels, but that is now not the case. And while it sounds good on the front end, the result is that people just run out of levels, and start complaining about that, sooner than they would otherwise.
All I know is… I like double XP. I’m a pretty big XP fiend but it isn’t even close to being my primary motivator for using Zwift. Lots of new users and New Year’s Resolution-types probably start losing motivation around March, so it’s timed well to draw them back in with an extra incentive. It’s nice for newer users who want access to better gear, and it’s helpful for higher level Zwifters too. Doing the entire Festive 500 (and some extra credit) didn’t even get me from level 51 → 52, and I was already ~25% into level 51 when it started.
But XP don’t get you any ‘better gear’, just more kit/shoes/hats. Maybe there should be double Drops, instead of double XP.
Indirectly, it does. You could have [checks account] 5 million drops, but you still can’t unlock the fastest wheels in the game until you get to level 42.
Double drops wouldn’t be much incentive - you can get 2.5x drops with RoboPacers anytime.
Good point!
Sure, if you stay with them for long enough. Mostly, though, just trying to find some alternative to the double XP. Maybe earning an in-game kit that is a bit more appealing?
i think the only thing that would really be a decent incentive is something you otherwise couldn’t get. You can get to higher levels it might just take a little longer, same for drops if they increased those but a tour of watopia frame or wheels (which could have performance increases on routes around watopia) that can’t be purchased unless you complete the tour might be better incentive.
otherwise you are just speeding people up to getting what they’ll eventually get anyway.
Aero socks. 8W savings at 50kph. 10000000 drops at level 61.
Zwift Academy awarded a special paint job for the Canyon Aeroad, which is my default bike anyway. No performance improvement but it does feel a bit “special” as it required completion of that event.
i prefer cheetah right now
Most will race… =)
Will late join be from the pens or onto the course with riders?
It should be onto the course.
Costumes and Big Wheels
Really disappointing, these Tours are the best part of Zwift normally. Wish they’d have kept the goofy gimmicks to the short ride or something.
