Tour de Zwift 2022 FAQ

Asking again - any news on when the schedules for stages 7 and 8 will be released?

I think we’re looking at this week.

Very typical visual bug, been around for years.

I am not necessarily convinced that it is a bug. When I was doing stage 1 the other evening, I had a blue cap on, others had orange, couple of helmets, some naed heads. I figured it was just for variety, given that we are all wearing the same jersey, shorts, etc.

To be fair … I didn’t actually look at anyone’s socks.

Dave’s right, it’s a bug. What you’re seeing is what everyone else’s avatar was set up with for headgear and socks outside this event. Everyone sees their own avatar wearing the event’s configured headgear and socks, but everyone else’s with their standard ones and not event ones. It’s been like this for ages.

Could it be a feature to make people see themselves more easily in the crowd?

Thank you @Ride_Cyclery for solving the ā€œTdZ Stage 1 not showing in zwiftpowerā€ issue.

Kudos

That’s what I assumed, not a bug, but a smart idea!

Fair enough. I kinda like it though … gives a more varied feel to the Peloton and (as someone else pointed out) makes it easy to see which one is you.

Cheers for the interesting replies and discussion concerning kit appearance, @Dave_ZPCMR @David_Cooper_DIRT @Steve_Hammatt @OleKristian @Neil_McGurk. I can believe that it might be unintentional, but agree that it does actually help with identifying one’s own avatar at a glance. :upside_down_face:

Would an insider be able to tell us whether we’re all supposed to see everyone wearing TdZ caps and socks, like in the promo shots? @James_Zwift @shooj?

Am just really curious!

I’m going to try to have a look when I do stage 3 later on today.

So, word on the street is that all forced assets (jersey, helmet, socks, etc) will appear on your avatar.

For all assets that are not jerseys, you’ll see what other riders have equipped in their garage.

Yes, it’s a bug, but probably more of a feature.

Most bugs are features, right?

We have this raised as ETAS-2356. Probably the same ā€˜feature’ that means if you change your bike/kit in the pen, some others don’t see if and think you’re doing a draft race on a TT bike.

Hi, I still don’t my Stage 1 A ride showing on Zwift Power (the 10-Jan 17:00 (UK)), this might be correct as in it’s not yet fixed, but I see another user says their ride was fixed (might be another ride to mine tbf)
cheers

Not showing up in ZP for me either (10-Jan 9AM PST).

Oh wait, so if you join an event with at TT bike, swap it ahead of the timer hitting 0 then folks see your TT bike and not the one you’re actually riding - for the whole race? If so then I’m gonna do that for sure

Yes, that is how it works, but may I recommend using the Buffalo Bike instead.

I don’t have the buffalo bike, maybe a MTB?

Yeah, that one I can certainly live with as well. If I see a TT bike in a group, I’m just mentally conditioned to waiting for the inevitable crash to happen…
