The Zwift Big Spin [March 2024]

But zwiftpower is only showing me in the results once. I late joined the event and got dropped near the front, finished with that group, then late joined the same event again. I should be in there twice!

how would that be fair to include people who join late and cut the course short?

I saw a bot rider doing 1200W in an event last night (ZwiftPower - Login is the event but the rider in question isn’t on ZwiftPower)

Looking at their profile on the Companion app they are a level 100 rider, they’ve done 10 Big Spin rides so far but only the first 2 seem to be legit. The other 8 they’ve used the 1200W bot and usually late joined the event (although in one event they seem to have used the bot for the whole ride).

They’ve got a long history of doing multiple rides in a day racking up hundreds of kilometres with their 1200W bot.

Zwift gives the rider the cone of shame but shouldn’t Zwift be doing more to combat blatant bot use? Booting someone from the event when they get the cone of shame would be a good first step.

I’ve reported the rider on the Companion App so I’m sure nothing will happen.

@Aoi_Niigaki - I sent you a PM

obviously yes, they should honor their own terms of service and ban these people!

The point is that it’s a fun group ride. Your own performance metrics might mean something to you, but the rankings are meaningless. Apart from the fact that my result doesn’t show any 20 minute power figures you’d never know that I late joined from the zwiftpower data.

I’m also happy for this event to stay light-hearted and goofy. As I am for all non-races.

There were loads on the ride i did this morning (UK 8.15 am) doing 21+ W/KG

one seemed to come past every couple of minutes

Oh my bad, i had this mixed up with Zwift Games GC in my head. Never mind me… I’ll let myself out…

exactly this there needs to be more control mid event to kick/ghost bot riders out so they don’t impact the event.

Ideally anyone with a constant power for more than a few seconds ghost them out. If it continues kick them.

and as for those doing impossible numbers need booted straight away but it seems unless a rider is reported they are free to use bots to level up accounts is quite a common practice.

I’d also like to see race organisers given the power to exclude riders mid race

Depends. Are they paying for a subscription

Yeah, that’s the same one I saw. I passed the information to Amanda after receiving her PM.

It’s funny… the same week that IndieVelo introduced real time performance verification the attendance of races dropped… they all came back to Zwift where its perfectly fine to cheat.

Did they make a 'whoosh’ing sound as they left?

Indievelo is overseeing the races for Zwift games championships from what I heard.

Yes, they are the 3rd party that does verification for elite racing… but everyday community races are like the wild west.

I have done the spin twice. The cruiser came up both times but it’s not appearing in my garage . Has this happened to anyone else?

I have got in touch with support cheers !

I’m very unlucky with spinning things and power ups - i got the steam roller pretty much every time (with no dust or gravel on the route) and got some sock and a jersey i’ll never wear!

After riding the Big Spin today, one suggestion I’ll make is that adding pace partners to it could work in this format; I know this was tried in some events a while ago but I think it could work better here; it’d create a few groups for people to stick to. I’ll flag @shooj and @manda_F in the hope someone at Zwift thinks this is a good idea!

I’m really glad to hear other people enjoying the format. As for me, the Zwift Big Spin is not my thing. I hoped it’d get me back into a Zwift regime like the TdZ did, but it lacks the in-ride motivation I enjoy. Enjoy spinning everyone!

I’m really enjoying the format, currently done 3 rides and have ‘won’ 3 different items (no bike yet though :smiling_face_with_tear:).

Yesterday I used the shorter big spin ride as a warm-up to the games, and it was probably one of the best group rides I’ve done…even used the anvil for the first time

You can report them endlessly but it seems that unless a flood of people kick up a stink nothing happens.

It must surely be possible to automatically kick out the folks doing 400w at 180rpm with 120bpm for 3 hours.

I try to report the dodgy riders with as much information as possible.

I’d like to see weights shown again publicly and height as well.

I haven’t seen any of the big spin events as I’ve been riding outside instead (no Zwift).
