HI, I believe the Skillbike connects with Zwift and allows resistance control without the need for a cable. The newer Technogym Ride works with HDMI I believe, but not the case for Skillbike. Can someone confirm? Any other limitations between Zwift and Skillbike? My plans are to use with Apple TV.
Any updates on using the Technogym Skillbike with Zwift? I’d really like to enable more gearing when not using Erg mode. Have you found a way perhaps with the Zwift click to make more gearing available?
That bike doesn’t support Zwift virtual shifting. I doubt that will happen ever but who knows. The bike is not a very good choice for use with Zwift but this topic might help you get it going if you end up buying one. I recommend getting something else, not a spin bike of any kind.
I have the Skillbike working with Zwift. Resistance works well in most cases, and shifting with the Skillbike levers works fine. It sees the power and RPMs. The issue on some occasions is when the gradient has a dramatic change…say from 0% to 6%…and you don’t shift early enough, then the bike freezes for about 5 seconds.
I am also using the Skillbike with Zwift. Erg mode is great! I just wish we had more gears to use than the 8 the Skillbike has so that riding in non-erg mode was better. I wish we could update the firmware somehow. Brian do you have any more suggestions for how to get the most out of using the Skillbike for Zwift? You’re one of the only people I know (along with myself) who uses it for Zwifting.
Most of the mid-range or above direct drive trainers with a bicycle on it, like a Kickr Core or better, Elite Direto or better, Tacx Neo, and the new Jetblack Victory is also appealing but availability is not great right now. Or get a smart bike from Wahoo or Tacx if your budget allows. No spin bikes or any product that locks you into using only Zwift, unless you are very certain that you will want to use Zwift forever and nothing else.
I was able to load the latest firmware last year…I believe the code 2501 unlocks the entire tablet, then you can navigate to the menu for firmware. Not sure the exact procedure.
In terms of suggestions on how to best use, just be aware of sudden elevation changes and to shift early, if not the power locks up for a few seconds. And I agree it would be nice to have more than 8 gears.
