Technical issues with Zwift Hub + Zwift Cog v1 after inactivity

Dear Zwift forum,

Yesterday, after about two weeks of inactivity, I used Zwift again and unfortunately encountered some technical issues.

As soon as I ride above approximately 250 watts, the Zwift Hub (with Zwift Cog v1) repeatedly loses resistance for a short moment, then recovers — but there’s a loud knocking or banging sound when it does. Before the break, I had no issues at all, and the setup was running smoothly.

My setup:
• Zwift Hub with Zwift Cog v1
• Connected to MacBook Air
• Latest Zwift software version
• All firmware updates installed
• No changes made to the setup since the last use

I’m not sure if the issue is coming from the Hub itself or from the Zwift Cog. I‘ve recorded a video to show the problem but can’t upload it or put links in the thread…

I would appreciate your help so I can get back to racing as soon as possible.

Thank you very much and best regards,
Marlon

You can post links if you mangle them a little, such as by adding some spaces to the URL

Not having seen that, my first guess for something to investigate that can actually be fixed would be to pull the freehub off the trainer and inspect it. There have been past reports of broken pawls in the freehub ratchet, which could result in momentary slippage and loud noises. A replacement freehub is available as part of the Cog and Click upgrade kit. That’s also a component that any bike shop will understand even if they don’t service trainers.
