I cannot get my zwift companion app to connect to zwift running on my macbook. This has only started since I updated to Tahoe 26.2 on my macbook which I run zwift on. I have tried logging in and out, changing privacy setting, location services and forgetting my network. Nothing works. Do you have an idiot’s step by step guide as to how to fix the issue please? I cannot find anything on the forums or internet that are close enough to my issue to follow. Thanks
Hi @Brian_O_Connor_Herd welcome back to Zwift forums.
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. When Apple updates their OS, it resets app permisions to the default (tighter) security settings. This breaks the app’s ability to use the Bluetooth radio and also to see other devices on your local network.
The simplest fix is to uinstall and re-install the Zwift app on your macbook, then say yes when you’re prompted to allow app permissions. Here’s how.
If your iPhone also updated to OS 26.2, you may want to do the same thing with the Zwift Companion app so it will “see” your macbook over the WiFi network.
RealVNC does not require a re-install or re-authorization to connect.
Zwift needs to figure this out.
Thank you thank you thank you! Perfect instructions - very clear and easy to follow - and I still have all my data… I now remember I had to do a similar zwift purge and reload on my macbook about 6 years ago and I lost all my data - because I wasn’t aware of the zwift forum back then and I was moving from my imac to a macbook. Thank you Shuji!
