Companion App disconnects with IOS26

Hi, please can you help, my companion app on my iphone (IOS26) disconnects from my zwiftplay once I start Zwift and connect my Smart Trainer, please can someone advise?

Hi @Darren_R welcome to Zwift forums.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here.

Context: When Apple issues a major OS update, they have historically reset each app’s permissions to the OS’s restrictive security defaults. You may want to check that the Companion app has Locations permissions enabled in your phone’s iOS Settings. See this Support artlicle.

On that same article - it notes you should reboot your WiFi router. This is because the main Zwift app and the Companion app “see” each other across WiFi and not Bluetooth. Please also reboot your router, your iPhone, and your Apple TV to reset your local network.

I peeked at your server logs and see your Apple TV is still on tvOS v 18.5.0. When that updates to tvOS v26.x, keep the same Locations permissions in mind for your ATV too. Instructions for that here.

Hi Shuji,

I have tried everything and still can’t get it to work.
My Zwiftplay controllers connect via my phone in companion but as soon as the connect devices screen appears in Zwift on my AppleTV they disconnect.
They are on the same WiFi network and everything is as suggested in the info you sent me.

Is there an issue with recent IoS versions?

I am going to try an old iphone with an older IoS version to see if that works.

Do you have any other information or suggestions?

Heya @Darren_R

We might be talking about different things - are you saying that Companion disconnects from the main Zwift app (i.e. you’re seeing the map view in Companion while you’re riding when all of sudden it toggles to the Fitness Tracker (“offline” mode?)
I was thinking this is what you meant by “Companion app disconnects.”

Or are you saying that you’re trying to use Zwift Companion to bridge your devices (i.e. Play controllers, heart rate monitor, and trainer) to the Pairing Screen of the main Zwift app?

This desxription sounds like you might be talking about the second thing? The way. you describe it sounds like you’re connecting the Companion app to the Play controllers in the Equipment tab as though you are updating the controller’s firmware? If that’s the case - these are the instructions you should be following. Would you confirm that’s how you’re doing it?
