Tablet for Treadmill use?

I’ve just ordered a treadmill (Adidas T19i) and was thinking that I might like something larger than my Pixel 6 for using Zwift with it. I’d rather stay with Android or Windows, so looking for some recommendations.

I do have a Windows laptop I use for my turbo trainer and Zwift but it’s not that conveniently located for the treadmill, though that might still be my preferred solution depending on the cost of an alternative.

@Colin_Cadden
I have a Samsung S6 light that I always use for running. Used my phone(companion app). Running isn’t very social, so I don’t really need the companion app.
I decided to mount a 32 inch tv on the wall. Plugged a Chromecast into it. Now I can mirror the tablet to it(using Google home app). Yesterday my wife was using the tablet, so I just mirrored my phone to the tv. Worked like a charm. Like I said. I have a hard time trying to chat, or give ride ons. So companion isn’t important to me. But the 32 inch, in front of the treadmill is awesome :sunglasses:. Hopefully this gives you idea’s. Good luck
Just so there is no confusion. I was using the zwift app, on my phone. To mirror to tv.

Hi Colin,

It depends on what experience you want from your running and how much you you’re going to take to it.

If you’re going to be a casual infrequent runner a tablet will be fine albeit consider where you’ll place this. Does the treadmill have somewhere to sit it? The console of your treadmill might bounce around and fling it off.

For a really immersive experience consider a custom built PC. Can cost roughly same as a tablet but will give you the ultra graphics profile. Link this to a TV mounted in front on the treadmill and it’s a great experience.

You could also do this with Apple TV but that didn’t get ultra profile.

Happy to advise further.

Colin,

If you just want to have a tablet to use Zwift, without the companion app, I’d suggest getting a Tablet Floor Stand off of Amazon. That is what I use to keep from watching my tablet bounce all over the console (I removed the treadmills tablet holder since I have a large screen TV in front of the machine).

Galaxy Tab A7 2nd hand off eBay would be my tablet recommendation.

I thought S series was needed if you want support for the HDMI adapter…

It was a suggestion for a cheap standalone tablet, but you can actually link it to a TV.

Either by screencasting to a smart tv or there is a workaround for HDMI support.

Thanks for the ideas folks. I’ll do some digging to look at potential costs and functions. I’m even thinking that a Bluetooth monitor would work for me as I have a PC in the same room, just at the wrong place/distance for a cable.

Treadmills & Zwift are my strong points.

The treadmill arrived and I’ve set it up on Zwift (connected immediately, dead easy). I did a workout, following the speed/incline instructions and that was ok too. However, I’ve found that the treadmills console is lower than I’d like as I ended up with a bit of a sore neck. (It’s new and shiny, I’m probably just looking at it too much :joy:)

The treadmill does have a mount above the console for a mobile phone or small tablet so I’m going to see how big a device that will accept and start my search.

As suggested, the next move would be to have a larger screen, mounted on the wall at head height, but one step at a time…
