Hey guys, I was wondering how important and how much of a difference does a swim make in a half distance triathlon?
Consider: The swim is the shortest event of the three. I find that I need only devote about 20% of my training time to the swim. Most focus is on the bike, where the majority of your time/distance will be.
I’m a mediocre swimmer at best and am usually among the last or slowest out of the water, yet I manage to podium in my age group frequently because of a focus on bike and run training.
Most training plans will have at least half of your training time devoted to bike, then run, then swim being least.
That works for me anyway…Good luck!
