Hi,
I just raced WTRL TTT (The Magnificent 8) with 3 other riders riding (all Cadex?) TT bikes, one of whom has steering, but said that it was disabled for the event.
I could easily draft off the other 2 riders - inline, close enough to seem almost under their saddle, and pushing past would almost merge the avatars.
However the rider with disabled steering would push me out of the draft with a gap large enough for an avatar to fit through.
Trying to draft up behind him had a fine balancing point between “Close the Gap” and pushing us both left & right out of the draft of the 2nd rider with the wide gap between us; I couldn’t get as close to him, as to the other 2 riders - he appeared to have a bubble around him, both at the sides, and front/back. And it made it a yo-yo effect of putting too much effort in then easing off, as it was much harder to stay in the drafting sweet spot.
Riding South out of the Fuego flats lake area back into the desert sunlight, we also noticed the 2 front riders in the middle of the road (on the centre lines), who had opened a 1s gap; the game then placed him in the centre of the right lane, and me in the right gutter further out; it made it a hard effort to go around him to try to get back into the 2nd draft.
I guess you could argue it’s more realistic, but it just seems inconsistent!
Thanks,
Rob
Apple TV, latest update
Game 1.74.2, Build 135346
It does funky things; other steering riders can move other steering riders around as well, ask me how I know.
Steering enabled riders can phase through other riders like the days of PD3; non-steering riders cannot, they have a “bubble” space where they shove people around; that’s been around since PD4.
What you experienced is the norm and has been the norm for over a year now.
Was the rider using a Sterzo? There’s another thread detailing people’s Sterzos not working in recent game updates. Shows as connected but no steering.
It sounds like the draft mechanics are behaving inconsistently, especially with the rider who has the disabled steering creating a bubble effect. Balancing your position while trying to draft effectively is crucial, but it can be frustrating when the game dynamics don’t align with real-world expectations.
