Right—no activity. Always Anna something.
I’m good with Anna - she is my test guinea pig for fake meetups requests. And oneday we will probably be friends so can we keep her out of this?
Zwift will probably not give a public comment on a specific account. However, if reported as offensive, Zwift will delete their picture, effectively ending their attempts to advertise adult websites.
Seen quite a few of these recently. I’m not sure why they don’t limit the number of following you can make based on level would seem like a good idea.
Or, they could probably just restrict following to paid accounts.
Another one, same obscene website
@shooj @Wes is anyone looking into preventing this? There is no way to flag them unless they are currently riding, which these fake profiles never do. Maybe add a flag option when removing followers in the companion app?
Thanks!
@Mike_Rowe_PBR
Yes, there are efforts happening on several fronts to keep spammers at bay. I can’t discuss them for security reasons, but we’ve been working on it.
Simple suggestion: Don’t allow a user to follow someone until they have burned a slice of pizza.
@Jim_Mattson Yup, something like that is part of the requirements to start following others. That’s one piece of our measures to keep bad actors at bay.
Sharon Fell started following me yesterday. Was suspicious when I saw Level 1 no activities but when I checked website address, I was horrified!! I see from other Forum messages that it is the same website address with different female. A bit sad that now I’ve gone private & removing followers that I don’t absolutely know. Also was quite disturbed that there were 3000+ Following this ‘person’ - do people realise what they’ve connected with??
Me too, I’ve had that individual request to follow me. 0 activities, but the intention is to make that URL visible, which incidentally you’ve just helped by including that screenshot!
Good point, removed the screenshot, @BooX can you delete your screenshot too?
Just wanted to let you know that we’ve pushed live some of the tactics to thwart this style of spammer. We can’t reveal the specifics for security reasons.
Spam fighting is a never ending battle. When you close one door, they’ll discover another. So we appreciate you all reporting instances to us, either on this forum or via email to support@zwift.com
This doesn’t seem to have been an issue for the last 6 months or so but I have just had an entertaining-sounding offer on ZCA from a woman I don’t know. I don’t think I will take it up.
Hi @Charlie_Wilson welcome to the Zwift forum.
Thanks for reporting it here. We are aware of spammers that infiltrated the Companion chat yesterday, and have been working to shut down that noise.
Just FYI @shooj I and another zwifter I know both received follow requests today from a 0 activity young naked lady with a pr0n site for a username. (Not sure if it’s the same one, we didn’t share screenshots or anything, lol). Reported via Companion App, but seeing that the other user and I aren’t linked in-game (not the same club or following), I thought it might be helpful to mention it here.
Thanks Tom.
including myself i know of 4 people that had a similar follow today.
Maybe for new accounts block them following while they have done zero miles on zwift.
One thing about this is that people can use bots to fake that. But it’s worth a try.
It ups the effort level though. It’s like locking your front door. It won’t stop a serious burglar, but it’ll stop the one who will keep checking doors until he finds an open one
