Yeah - If you update the CORE v1 to latest firmware, it will support virtual shifting, and you can buy the Zwift Cog + Click bundle. Just be sure to select the one with the Wahoo-compatible freehub pre-installed to the ZCog.
The Zwift Cog comes pre-installed on an 11 speed freehub body that is compatible with the Kickr Core. It is not a Wahoo original part - it’s designed to fit a few different trainers including yours. So if you are comparing the price, consider that you get the freehub body as well. I suspect your 12 speed cassette would also fit on that freehub body, though I have not tested that personally. The Cog itself is essentially an 11 speed cassette with one gear.
So what you’re suggesting is potentially getting the zwift click and cog upgrade kit, which comes with the shimano/sram free hub which you linked earlier or am i misunderstanding?
As if so, a cassette could be used alternatively even when buying the cog?
It comes with a freehub that is intended to work with your trainer, even though it’s not the official Wahoo branded product. It is however a Shimano HG compatible 11 speed freehub, so I suspect it will work with the 12 speed road cassettes, but not having actually installed one on it, I am hedging my comment to say “this will probably work”. Virtual shifting does not depend on using the Zwift Cog. It can also be used with any normal cassette as long as the gear ratio is somewhere in the neighborhood of 3:1 on a Wahoo trainer.
For virtual shifting to work you may also need to update the firmware on the trainer using the Wahoo app, if you want to get into that.
I maybe miss seeing something, but in IMG_5959, it doesnt look like the sprocket is correctly fitted, which if correct, would explain why adding the final sprocket then lock ring doesnt work.
thers’s a gap between the 12t and 13t one they’re you’re right - so as the above comment says the spacer is needed.
However that was for demonstration purposes. If you look at the image with just the end 11t cog and 12t cog on the whole freehub’s too short pretty much i think is what was established.

Do you have a source for this information? I didn’t find anything about it in the manual. I am aware of some 11 speed Shimano cassettes that are designed for 10 speed width and need the spacer but hadn’t heard of any 12 speed like that.
I think they’re correct - because on one of the images you can see a gap between the penultimate and third to last cog (13t) i believe, where they’re not flush.
With the spacer they are then flush. I’ve taken the cassette off now but it would make sense as i tried with and without
Speaking about the spacer between the freehub end and the cassette (largest cog).
With the spacer behind that, everything is flush (with all spacers placed correctly between each cog).
Without that spacer between the largest cog and free hub, there’s a gap between the 12t and 13t cogs, the 12t has that spacers built in (probably not the right terminology) but when it’s pushed fully on the freehub, and the cassette doesn’t have the 1.85mm spacer on then the 12t and 13t cogs didn’t sit flush, there was a large gap.
In terms of my original query though, it’s not the reason why the 12 speed cassette doesn’t fit on - that’s because it’s the old style freehub not compatible with hg11+ by the looks of it - atleast looking from the info here.
I’ll try get a picture clearer later with the spacer on and spacer without then it’ll show the gap between the 12t and 13t cogs - edit: see pic below
