Rider from a non-race TdZ event won TdZ race by 25%

This happened a week ago. I raced TdZ Stage 1 in B (11 January 2026 16:10 CET), and the winner won by over 7 mins in a 28-min event. I also never saw that person in the leaderboard until the final standings.

We dug a little into it, and it seems that the winner actually rode the same TdZ Stage 1 course as an official TdZ non-race event, which started 10 mins earlier and rode it 3 mins slower than us.

How did he get classified in our race? Did he sign up for both events and started a non-race one?

I doesn’t let me insert links here, but on Zwiftpower it has zid=5291861

Yeah this is super weird and I don’t think it’s a racing score or category enforcement problem. It seems like some other kind of bug.

There was another report like this back in August but I haven’t found it yet…

Happened to around 7 or 8 riders on stage 1. Was easy to see on the results classification.

Stage group ride starts around 10 minutes before the race. Somehow the riders results get mixed/crossed into the race results but first 10 minutes (or so depending on pen start time) get removed from the stage timings and become their new much faster race results.

Not even that far back. Eg. Look at C Cat at event ID# 5289598

Winner participated in both the Ride and Race that started only 10 minutes apart from one another.

We suspected foul play, but ruled it out - it’s definitely a bug. I guess the winner doesn’t even know that he won that race.

No but improves their ZRS score !

Same situation to others except his is the only one which appears to show both ride and race in ZwiftPower. The others all appear to show race only when in fact only the group ride was done, AFAIK.

Given that it’s not a one-offs, maybe Zwift can investigate the matter? I’ll try to reproduce it in my next race.

Was late join possibly accidently enabled on some of the race setups?

You should contact support about it because the events staff don’t watch closely here. You could write to zwiftpower@zwift.com

What will you try?

Sign up for both events, join the race pen early, leave that event and join the group ride?

I thought of just signing up for both events and riding the group ride, but joining the race pen early is a nice addition.

I have seen races where the ‘winning’ rider only rode two laps on a three lap race.

Also, a one lap race won by the person who just completed the lead-in 2 kilometers. Funny stuff.
