Remove mandatory HRM requirement

Just as a note, Wahoo has been very good about providing free replacements for broken HRMs. They replaced at least two of mine after about one year of use. But I’ve moved on to Polar in search of better reliability.

Yeah. I should point that out as well. I have had at least 1 replaced under warranty. 3 failing. Most shortly after the warranty. One also arrived as just a strap which they did replace. But I find the design guarantees the device will fail. The o-ring for the battery cover doesn’t prevent sweat from entering. The plastic battery cover tabs have broken off on several of mine - and I treat them well.
I also have a Wahoo Kickr which I lost a part for shortly after purchasing it, and I offered to purchase a new one and they sent me one for free.
But for a HRM, I’d like it to work for at least 2 years. So far, none of my Tickr’s have succeeded.

They gave me a free refurbished snap when mine failed after the warranty expired. Good customer service—but not enough to overcome the inconvenience of failing Tickrs.

I’m also using Garmin, the yellow one with the ant+ and Bluetooth connection, it has been quite reliable and I’m doing lots of riding.

Only thing I do is change battery occasionally (CR2032). Also have the blue one as a backup (ANT+ only).

My HRMs are always on the desk beside the kickr bike so it’s never a problem to use them, no matter if I’m in a rush.

It’s quite valuable to know your heart rate as well.

To add, on occasions, I can suffer from some serious blood pooling effects in the legs (I have had it checked out) and my heart rate drops through the floor which feels like a cross between being suffocated and tough breathing, it is really quite unpleasant, especially mid-race. I have checked by wearing two monitors and 3 watches and all are within 3 bpm when this occurs. At first, I thought it was faulty HRMs, but after a replaced Tickr and a new Garmin HRM, I’ve just learnt to live with it but for me showed it was not necessarily faulty equipment.
