Correct the ZHQ events currently use hardware enforcement for the power meter only. Of course that does not mean the power meter is really a power meter, it just has to broadcast a power number.
If HRM were enforced, any disconnection of the HRM would result in being ejected during the race which is probably why they chose not to do that.
Thanks, that kind of makes sense. I feel like I’ve tried to join races without an HRM before and not been allowed into the pen.
My Kickr Core is on 24/7, so I can’t think of any other reason why I wasn’t allowed in (not referring to ZRacing monthly specifically, maybe it was Zwift Games or similar). My Wahoo HRM gets manually paired each time I ride, so I am 99% sure it was that.
At least enforcing an HRM to start, would be an improvement IMHO.
Requiring a HRM to enter the starting pen is an option, and community organizers sometimes use it. Look at the icons on the right side of these event listings. The first one has category enforcement enabled, and power meter required. The second one adds HRM enforcement. Keep an eye out for those settings when you are picking a race.
Paul - the issue with requiring HRM with hardware enforcement is that if the HR monitor loses connection then you’ll be kicked from the race. With some monitors, that can happen just from sitting up, and you’ll typically not notice that the HR number stops changing until you’re booted.
Agree, mentioned above. I don’t turn on that feature in the races I am managing, but I can understand why some do, especially if it’s a high profile race series. I have had participants ask for it but I think we have too many casual racers for it to be a good idea in the events I’m managing. I’d be more interested if it were a bit more relaxed about tolerating disconnections.
I have been pushing for auto detection of bots for a long time in Zwift. But it always gets deflected with “fast is fun” or similar. Never by Zwift but by random forum members.
Please point out any of those posts. I don’t think this is a common opinion even among the forum obsessed who aren’t “that guy”. I think you’ll have a hard time finding any defenders of bots but I’m prepared to eat those words.
I don’t want to single out individual people by linking posts but did just search and there were numerous examples around bots and cheating posted by people who were not “the one” people mention.
One was not concerned about folks the weight of a pidgeon flying up ADZ.
To me, there’s a difference between not caring about people adjusting their weight when free riding, and not caring about bots. Bots should be automatically detected and ejected. Free riders playing with their weight is something I don’t personally care about but I respect the view that those adjustments should be curtailed. If there were a generally applied rule about large abrupt weight changes I would call that an overall positive development even if some aren’t happy about it.
To be included in the final ZwiftPower results, you must use a heart rate monitor as well as a smart trainer, smart bike, or power meter.
I think my frustration stems from the fact that in-game is not equal to ZwiftPower which I guess, is a bigger discussion.
“Winning” on ZwiftPower feels quite shallow, when you “lost” in-game. It’s a pity that all Zwift game users don’t have ZwiftPower accounts automatically created (whether you log in and use the account or not is up to you).
From the perspective of legitimacy, I agree. Plus the ability to load a secondary power source for verification, etc. on ZwiftPower definitely makes it “better”.
But the “win” in-game, when your HR is maxing out, sweat dripping everywhere, is a much better feeling.
