For group rides (non-race events) over 25 miles, permit a rider to join at the back of the group after a restroom stop of no more than 60 seconds. The rider will get one opportunity to stop and rejoin the peloton as long as he/she selects the “rejoin” option within 1 minute of stopping.
This would make longer, higher paced group rides more enjoyable if a rider could stop and relieve oneself at, for example, mile 30 of a 60 mile ride without having to lose the group.
I sent this as a suggestion to Zwift (just this week): a bathroom break on long rides (that are not races) would keep your avatar in the group, your miles/time would not count, and then to rejoin would be like joining a robopacer with the 10-second countdown.
Ironically, after I sent that, the 120 km group ride I was in there must have been at least a 30-minutes long chat thread about being able to stop to go to the loo.
For group rides like that, it would make great sense—IRL, group rides of a couple of hours or more often have bathroom breaks.
Totally on board with this! I forget to turn on a fan, or need to take off a jacket, and a break option would be perfect! Not sure that 60 seconds is long enough to click clack across the floor in my cycling shoes and be back…
