Hi, looking for answers to a problem i have found and cant seem to find anything like it on the forums
I recently got the play controllers and had no issue with them, they worked fine.
After the France update i noticed strange power spikes on the graph at the bottom of the screen and the power does not seem to be smoothed . The spikes were every second and were around 30 watts difference, 170 to 180 to 190 to 200 and back to 170, every second it would jump and then back down and create a strange wave pattern in the graph i have never seen before.
I have been on Zwift for years and very experienced with power meters, i can maintain steady power and keep the graph pretty flat with steady cadence.
I started to try to narrow the fault down with tests, Spindown of trainer ( no ) eternal power meter (no) Switch to ANT+ for everything and because there
were no controllers connected and using my bikes mechanical gears everything worked as it used to.
So i went back to Bluetooth but without the controllers and again it worked fine again steady power. ERG mode seems to work fine with the controllers, but after more testing i worked out that cadence had something to do with it.
The lower the cadence 60 rpm ( maintained perfectly ) the more spike difference and the higher the cadence 90+ the difference was much less around 10 watts. It is not changes in terrain as it does this on long flat sections of Tempus and i’m not changing gear every second. I am at a loss to narrow it down further, is it a cadence issue ? or a resistance issue or is it as simple as for whatever reason smoothing is not working for me.
Its quite easy for me to just stop using the controllers but i do like them AND most important it makes my trainer so much quieter now using virtual gears ( i am sure my neighbour approves )
Any thoughts on this would be welcome.
