No Ultra Graphics Mode with Radeon RX 5500 XT GPU

Similar to the RX 6900xt - no UltraHD mode thread.
I have the subject GPU and cannot get Ultra mode in the game settings. 1080p on my 4K TV looks good but from what I read online, Ultra looks even better. What has to happen to get the RX 5500 XT card added to Zwift? Thanks!

Still an issue and I’m in the same boat. It would appear that the AppMetal variant of the game defaults to the Medium profile. Given that M1 is mapped to high with a Geekbench score of ~20k and the 5500 XT gets ~40k on the same test, one would think that it should get at least high.

*I’ve edited the preferences file to a resolution of 2560x1440 and edited the Medium.txt file to turn on pretty much everything possible from there.

In situations that don’t swamp the CPU, I get the 60fps that is the max for the gpu HDMI->TV. Frame rates drop when the crowding is "packed and/or somewhat less than packed and in Makuri.

From what I understand, this is a simple lookup table so it should not take significant developer time to add an entry for this card and its big brother the 5700.
I believe the line ā€œ[19:25:56] GFX: Found a vendor/model match forā€ indicates that a match was NOT found since there is no text after the word ā€œforā€

Correct. For example mine says ā€˜Found a vendor/model match for RTX’, which covers all 20 series Nvidia cards and newer. They won’t do the same catch all look up for RX GPUs because there are tons of older and weaker models. The RX 460 gets High profile, for example. Yours needs adding to the list.

Personally I think it could work in reverse now. If there’s a dedicated GPU present that isn’t already on the list, it should default to Ultra because the chances are it’s newer and easily powerful enough.

Kind of ironic that I’ve spotted NAVI in neon lights in Neokyo. But the game doesn’t seem to support the actual cards.

I’d hoped the recent exchanges would result in a fix coming out with today’s update. Hoped, but not expected.

I’ll hold out hope for the next update.

Can’t help my curiosity so I pulled the strings out of the application file.

An excerpt:

RX 6900 RX 6800 RX 6700 RX 6600 RX 5700 RX 5600 XT RX 5700 XT RX 6700 XT AMD RADEON RX 6750 XT RX 6800 XT RX 6900 XT RX 590 RX 580 RX 570 RX 560 RX 480

So it looks like a lot of NAVI cards are enumerated, but not all.

Generally speaking the NAVI 10 cards seem to be in there, but the NAVI 14 missing.
The Pro 5500M IS in the file and it seems to be a NAVI 14. So even the 10 v 14 doesn’t seem to be 100% determinative.

Listing of NAVI cards found at: Radeon RX 5000 series - Wikipedia

Devs, can you please add the missing cards?

I recommend asking Zwift support for this, then say a prayer

Good work.

They just do it manually, I don’t think there’s much rhyme or reason. Given that there are very few new dedicated GPUs released that can’t beat a GTX 960, there’s no reason why it has to still be like this.

I did put in a ticket and referenced this thread. Now we wait.

I just got a survey asking me to rate how easy it was to get my request resolved.
Unless there is an update today that added the rx 5500 xt, I guess I have to give them 1 star?

All I want for Christmas is support for my graphics card! I saw Santa flying around Watopia. I promise I’ve been good this year!

I know W6800X 32GB is supported - I asked for that and they put it in. Submit a ticket through the support mechanisms and give them as much detail as possible.

Already done. The response was… not promising. As in ā€œyour request is important to usā€ With no language suggesting it was anything but a canned, generic response. (Actually 2 of those. 1 was the auto-responder. The 2nd was allegedly from an actual human support person.) I’m still hoping that the request was passed along to a team that can work on it. I included a link to this thread which as way more than enough info for the engineers, I think.

Another update… Still no love for the RX 5500 XT :sob:

Keep following up on this. I have old RX580 which gets the ultra profile, your 5500 should smash it.

Interesting they have quite new ones in the list.

Unfortunately they are dealing with quite a few bugs from the last release. :frowning:

Well Apple hates Nvidia… Can’t we all just get along?

Yeah… I started the thread on one of those.
Your observation about bugs in the latest release will stand the test of time, I’m afraid.
But a missing graphics card profile entry seems like something a newbie developer could cross off the list for a quick win.
