No signal in Heart Rate with Forerunner 965

I have been using Garmin Forerunner 965 to broadcast HR to Zwift when cycling. It had been working flawlessly till I paired Virtual Run in Forerunner 965 to Zwift Run.

Now, whenever I switch on Virtual Run on Garmin, HR is paired in Zwift (cycling + running both),

but if I use broadcast HR on Garmin, Zwift is unable to find the device.

I tried pairing via Virtual Run and then shifting to Broadcast HR in Garmin, in that case I start getting no signal in the HR.

Any thoughts on why this weird behaviour? I have tried restarting the watch, re-installing Zwift.

Running Zwift on Mac Sonoma 14.7.1.

As far as I know, in both cases the date is being transmitted over Bluetooth.

Same problem on my forerunner 965. I tried restarting but that didn’t work either.

Same problem here… does anyone have a fix?

Hi @T_he_Farr_Outpost

Welcome to the forums. This is Haziel from Zwift support. I wanted to provide you with some troubleshooting steps that might be helpful.

The Virtual Run mode and Broadcast HR mode might compete for Bluetooth connections. Try disabling Virtual Run completely before switching to Broadcast HR mode to ensure a clean connection, I noticed some interruptions with the signal, please check this article for a possible solution.

Also, please ensure your Garmin Forerunner 965 has the latest firmware installed. Garmin occasionally releases updates to address connectivity issues.

When pairing devices in Zwift, make sure to remove any previously paired HR monitors from the list before attempting to connect Broadcast HR. This can prevent Zwift from defaulting to the Virtual Run pairing.

Additionally, in case the issues persist please try pairing your Garmin watch through the Zwift Companion App. This can act as a bridge for additional devices.

If the issue continues, please don’t hesitate to contact us to provide further assistance.
