That is simply wrong
The Tron is still pretty versatile. The others are boat anchors,.
The Pina is beaten hands down and the others would only stand a chance in Tempus Fugit
With the exception of the Pina Halo (TT Bike) the other three Halos (I include Tron as a Halo) at Level 5 are fastest according to https://zwifterbikes.web.app/
Such extreme language to describe a 1sec difference over an hour.
tbf there is a difference, cheating in a race impacts the whole race and other people, someone cheating to get an upgraded bike doing teleports/downhills etc and NOT racing is only cheating themselves and impacting that rider, you might not see it that way granted
Iâm not sure he said he supports this loophole, but he is saying the focus should be on things that make a larger impact, if I am interpreting his opinion correctlyâŚ
Looking through Zwiftwerbikes the fully upgraded halo bikes, including tron, are mostly faster on almost all routes⌠but by just a few seconds, it isnât a huge impact and likely any race tactics and drafting would really even the playing field even further.
Iâm only on level 3 of my SL8 so itâs going to take me a long time to get a fully upgraded Tron bike, but that seems to be the best option for my next goal.
To be fair, no-one really cares about anyone elseâs Zwift efforts beyond how it affects their own experience. Eg last week I managed to win a race (an exceedingly rare occurrence) and got more kudos on strava for the warm up than for the race! And I got even more kudos the next day for a slow run with a hangover that included a photo of a flash car I encountered. (A Bugatti, for reference, so definitely worth some extra kudos!)
Doesnât that depend on the course? I think a fully upgraded Aethos is the fastest bike up a meaningful hill.
Yes - my post number 1358 says that! Alpe would definitely be the Aethos!
These comments do confuse me.
Iâve figured the best thing to do was get an SL8 fully upgraded because the initial reports stated an upgraded Tron bike would only be best on very flat routes.
Now itâs fastest on most except significant climbs.
Since XP will become meaningless after lvl 100, maybe Iâll work on the Tron next.
I like seeing my avatar sit up in the draft though.
Nuance is lost in a lot of these posts.
If you are under 500zrs then you might want both a climbing bike and a fast aero. If you are above 500zrs then you will benefit more often from aero.
If you like the look of a specific halo bike then get it.
If you spend a lot of time doing TTTâs get the Pinarello halo.
If you want a set-it-and-forget-it option, then SL8 with 7.8s is fine.
If you want to be passive about getting a halo, do training/recovery rides on zwift bikes then just sit on a tron forever.
If you want to min/max;
- SL8 + Aethos > fast pina road bike + 2 ttâs > Pina Halo
- Tron path.
- other specialized bike > Spec halo
You now have the best TT, the best all-around, the best climber, and the two fastest flat bikes.
Sorry. Hadnât seen that!
For racing, unless itâs seriously uphill (eg radio rendezvous) then itâs the SL8 every time - with much angst re wheel choice! Against the general consensus, the 858 super 9s seem to work best for me unless thereâs a decent uphill finish when the 858s do the trick.
Longer term, once Iâve fully upgraded the SL8 and Aethos, Iâll buy another spesh and grind my way to that Halo bike just because it looks cool to ride on. My long term project is grinding to the Aero socks in the factory tour. Thankfully, bike choice there doesnât matter!
Thatâs the set it and forget it angle. If the disc wheel works for you though the tron lvl3 and up will probably be faster than level 5 sl8
hey look at that, it only took 1,400 comments but weâre talking about Halo bikes!
Got to upgrade the thread to be a Halo thread, and thereâs no teleporting here. Got to grind it out!
This is surely valid for many problems all over the world - but for cheating in Zwift?
Yes, he is right. Otherwise cheating in Zwift will be get out of control.
The cheating must be stopped because those upgraded halo bikes are very fast.
Stopping this cheating would have a huge impact, because itâs a feature used by everyone on Zwift whether they like it or not.
Racing isnât done by everyone, so if I wanted to be uncharitable I could say it doesnât matter that much because of that. Of course I want the bots banned and other things to clean up performances in Zwift as well which will help racing.
If anything, for a start, stop downhill counting for bike upgrade progress. Iâd be happy with that. Okay, I lose the downhill I earned by riding uphill but the cheating riders lose their key part of the teleport cheat as well.
Any looping route has the same amount of uphill and downhill, so on average youâd be clipping off a lot of distance of most routes if you just stopped downhills counting towards progress.
Edit: This would have the knock-on effect of making hilly routes even less helpful for these bikes, pushing more folks onto super flat routes, and making the mountainous routes less used, and valued.
You could say âignore distance when no power is being appliedâ but thatâs also non-optimal given people can earn those kms.
I would guess it would annoy far more folks who legitimately earned their downhill vs. helping stop cheaters if they ignored downhills. So I donât think that is the correct solution.
Implausible by far.
Why should the whole system be changed over petty jealousy?
Iâm sure a good number of people are still working on their forty hours to upgrade their time trial frame.
If itâs a year for your halo and only a month for âexpert droppersâ that puts you a few seconds down on any race.
But, you will never know who earned it and who hacked it. Basically, it doesnât matter.
If itâs really an issue, then race organizers can disallow halo bikes for the next year, until you have yours.
It seems to be a non-issue for many.
Have you considered a poll vote to demonstrate that others support your objections? Just remember, you need to word your statement without the âcâ word. Good luck. You could also ask a few race organizers if they would make a statement about âdroppersâ with upgraded bikes. Right now, it just seems like the opinion of a few irate racers. (and some donât seem like racers at all; which means their complaints are a bit shallow.)
Most of the posts I have read here sound a bit like they donât like it but recognize there is little they can do about it. Who knows? Maybe halo bikes will get nerfed a bit in the future.
You say this as if people arenât just waiting 10% shorter 10% lighter on 20% higher power.
Someone having a halo on top of that doesnât really impact racing.
