So everyone doesn’t pedal at all on every downslope? Isn’t that how drops work.. you don’t earn any if you don’t pedal?
If I rode to to the top of AdZ, I earned that downhill.
I may or may not pedal on the way down - it’s my choice, but I earned it.
I would want the downhill to count for XP, since I earned it.
I would want the downhill to count for the distance to upgrade the bike, since I earned it.
I may or may not care about the drops - either way, it’s my choice, I earned it.
Hope the “large deltas” code from about 2 million posts ago will address this.
as long as your uphill and downhill distances are reasonably close then all is good, if you only have downhill distance then it doesn’t count.
but that could mean anything really, big differences in weight during a ride, from day to day, sudden huge changes in level or distances or whatever.
I would argue the variance in 0.2mph on the flats between a base and fully upgraded bike is far from a minor disadvantage.
All of this said though, I wouldn’t be surprised if the community starts abandoning races until the events are ghost towns until things are neutralized … or something is fixed.
I am sorry, but if you are still racing at base level after 6 weeks you either havent put in the hours or didnt care enough to upgrade your frame.
Both peoples own choices.
And that somehting fixed will be here between now and max 2 months since that will give people enough time to get to level 5 themself and level out the paying field. A lot have already reached that… looks at Cat
And yes, I do think the three Halo bikes need to be nerfed to below normal frame values. Doesnt make any sense to put in one (Pinarello) worse than normal (TT) frames but make the other three better than their normal counterparts.
The suggestion is that qualifying miles for bike upgrades are based on the same criteria as for drops. You don’t pedal, you don’t earn – simple as that. If Zwift had started this promotion in that manner from the beginning, this wouldn’t even be a discussion.
Yes it is! Peter it is cheating it is not grey area it is a clear case of cheating and people should be ashamed of themselves for taking this easy route of cheating.
Ok, than you can easily show me where in the rules it says you can not teleport to the top of a mountain and ride down.
It is still your opinion that it is cheating.
You are correct here. It is an easy route and nothing more.
I sure hope so, but it seems a long way off.
It is cheating, they didn’t do the climb so they shouldn’t get the descent distance to count for upgrades. All my descents are because I put in the effort and long amounts of time to go uphill. Not because I did 75km of descending and teleports in an hour - which by the way is meaning people spend less time on Zwift, not more.
Have you done any of this dropping?
I think they probably see the drops constraint as enough and have moved on unless people are doing weight changes
I have to disagree with you on this one. There are people doing 5 to 10 hours a day downhilling. You really think they would be on Zwift if this wasnt possible.
Zwift numbers of people spending time in their game have gone up by a lot I think.
Yeps, that sounds like a very reasonable conclusion. That combined with people spending more time on their platform and hopefully some who dont cancel their summer subscription might just be what Zwift was aiming for.
Which is cheating. You should be earning that descent by riding uphill first. Thats called integrity.
I hope you haven’t been doing this dropping.
It’s called morals and integrity Peter not everything has to be spelled out for those lacking in the grey cells.
Than why are there rules and laws ?
Peter you are just nit picking Lucy me a child saying why, why to it’s parents as they don’t like the answer given although they already understand it, they just done want to hear the truth.
To all intent and purposes it doesn’t matter if some users are riding more. What matters to zwift is, are less users unsubscribing from the platform or are new users being recruited?
To me, the way this has been handled increases the perception that cheating and gaming the system is tolerated on the platform and may even put users off coming back to the platform if they feel that disadvantage is so great - “im that far behind the upgrades lets try TPv as a racing alternative and give it a go”
Doubt it. The vast majority of Zwifters are probably totally unaware of issue, and if made aware would say “so what, it doesn’t affect me”.
Have zwift disabled the ability to Teleport via CA due to this?
I am mis-remembering that I could use the CA to teleport? I could only use the game client earlier.
We’ve already done that, don’t circle back around to this.
The TOS has specific clauses about using the software counter to the intent of the programmers, and their intent is easily determined by their announcements of the feature.
