New Halo Bikes, New Drop Shop Bikes [March 2025]

Elevation hacks ?

I’m sure you’ve seen the folks setting weight to 30kg or using bots. And you know enough about the teleporting and downhill drops that it doesn’t need explaining. Like the folks doing hundreds and hundreds of kms per day. One this morning did 75km in 1 hour. Super human effort.

Point still stands, how is that right and fair to people who are getting the bike upgrades legitimately without hacks or shortcuts to then have these folks cheating the system.

There is no way anyone can say that is right.

I think it would probably help if zwift explicitly said that teleporting to the top of the hill (without changing your weight or anything else) and just descending is not allowed.
At the moment some people think it is wrong others seem not to and without an official view on it, or just stopping that functionality, i can’t see it stopping.

I think it’s long passed the everyone else is doing it , so I have to stage.

just to be clear, i am not doing it, in fact I haven’t upgraded any bike as I have no interest in that stuff.

I just think until zwift actually say people aren’t allowed to do this stuff people will carry on doing it

Ohh that. I thought you meant there was some new magical way to get elevation meters. Doing elevation on a MTB isnt funny at all so could have used that.

I draw the line at changing weight to rediculess values and by the way I read it so does James/Zwift.

I still do not mind people teleporting and going downhill and as mentioned earlier in this topic, it makes people spend way more time than normal on Zwift and those numbers count for companies. Teleporting and going downhill is in Zwift for years and people have been doing it for years and I dont think Zwift will do something about that.

Could and should they have brought this differently into the game, of course.
Unless it was always about people spending time on their platform and not cancelling their subscription, but my guess is they will never be open about their business strategies.

But is it ? There is nothing in the rules about teleporting and it can be done ever since teleporting was in the game.

But where would they put this statement. On the forums where maybe 3% of the population visits? On facebook, where they maintain that the various discussion groups really aren’t their own offiicial outlet? A special email to membership?

IMHO there is zero chance of them doing that. What’s possible (though I don’t think it’s that likely) is changing the game so that downhills don’t count for upgrades unless you’re pedalling, or unless you’ve also done the climbing elevation or something along those lines.

that’s kind of my point, people are saying people should be banned or whatever for something that may or may not actually be allowed.

We here in this topic only give our opinion on all this and nothing more.

And even we cant agree on what is fair and what not and have different reasons for that.

I’ve just done a double Ventoux and unlike last week at the same time, there no groups descending. In fact, it was very sparsely populated all round.

Fair point and i’d probably guess 3% is a lot higher than the real number.
Even this thread has only had 100 people comment on it and a handful make up the majority of the comments.

IMO the simple answer is you must do “x” amount of pedalling before any downhill freewheeling will count towards challenges.

x= 5mins?

Probably easier from programming perspective that minimally you must e.g. be producing 50w to qualify for distance based rewards.

But that would punish 80% of their playerbase who have no idea this is happening or dont race and dont care what bike other people ride.

This is only become a problem now because some see disadvantages being made in racing. People who dont race, do only grouprides or use Zwift as a training platform dont care what bike the others are on. Well except a few how have personal feelings about these upgrades.

Since only 15% (last number I have seen) races on Zwift it is a very minority who is affected and even people in that 15% dont know or dont care. So it is a very minority who claims this is unfair. We can see that here. Perhaps 5, lets be generous and call it 10 people here complain and are very vocal about that.

Certainly since the normal frames were only a temporary problem since we all are still upgrading our frames and the gaps between them and the rest are getting smaller every day till the point that everyone has a level 5 frame.

So I really doubt that zwift will take actions which will affect 99% of their playerbase to please that 1% who thinks it isnt fair. Certainly not after we are now 6 weeks into this.

What punishment? I doubt 80% of the playerbase is riding to the top of AdZ all that frequently, and the requirement for some registered level of power is only if you want that distance to count toward miles for a halo bike (or other types of challenges that may exist or be launched in the future that are distance based and reap actually beneficial rewards (vs paintjobs)). Distance itself would still show though in your fit file, and you’d still get the xp.

If downhill kilometers dont count anymore that affects everyone. If you only block AdZ and Ven-Top those doing it now will just switch to another climb/downhill.

Read again.. only don’t count downhill toward distance based reward challenges if there’s 0 power.

But that affects everyone. I just dont see Zwift putting in time and money to satisfy a few people who think this is unfair when it will affact everyone in their game.

Certainly not since this is only a temporarely problem.
