I’ve biked on Zwift for 10 winters so far.
I was being factual not sarcastic.
I rode for 45 mins and didn’t complain, so you wouldn’t have noticed my lived experience. I didn’t observe a significant speed increase (although I wasn’t focusing on it), but I did subsequently report a slight increase in overall average power to weight ratio on the forum. It might be nothing to do with the pacer bike change.
So you watched a pacer without riding for a substantial period of time. Interesting activity.
Anyway, none of this conversation responds to my original question about whether there is any more scientific calculation of the impact of a change in pacer bike (only). Great that you’ve observed no impact, but don’t feel compelled to reply if there’s nothing more to add in response to what I actually asked.
I’m assuming a bunch of people are going to do the same here as with the original Tron bike goal–doing it just to do it, because they’re riding already and have billions of drops and what else are they going to do? Particularly people who love the Tron bike. I almost never ride mine, so I won’t be putting that year into it unless I find 5 years from now that there’s nothing else to do
Is there a way to determine what the upgrade requirements are for a frame before buying it? For instance, if I wanted to go for the Pinarello Halo bike and planned to do a lot of climbing, is there a way to know which Pinarello to get?
Hopefully there will be a list at some point that categorizes which bikes are distance, time, or climbing.
Here:
Get the Super Tron, then sell your account on EBay. Maybe it’s worth more than you think.
For myself, I will have the Cadex and Aethos maxed before June. Then, the Dogma.
This was posted on the forum recently in this topic or in the 1.86 topic. (Reposted above I see)
On the topic of robopacer speeds, the observation of one person riding is not very factual either, perhaps they were fatigued a bit that day and it seemed more difficult, or it was a very large group so everything was faster, or it was slower because everyone remains behind the robopacer. There are so many variables.
If things drastically changed you would see people complaining quickly and I’ve not seen that. Only thing I’ve seen recently was a comment on a very fast Constance group because they had a flier at the front pushing the pace faster - that is normal for that group.
Anyhow, this is veering somewhat off topic of halo bikes.
If I’m not mistaken, watching another rider is an achievement badge.
Paparazzi: “Fan view for 15 minutes”
So, nothing odd about that.
My Gen Younger Than Me nephews used to ask me all the time if I wanted to watch them play video games. Our passivity has seemingly increased since my own childhood of only wanting to play video games (that simulated IRL activities )

Overall Performance Gains:
Testing conducted over a one-hour ride at 4 W/kg (300W for a 75kg rider) yielded the following time savings when comparing a fully upgraded Tron Bike to its un-upgraded version:Zwift Insider+1Zwift Insider+1
- Flat Terrain: Approximately 28 seconds faster.Gear & Grit
- Climbing Terrain: Approximately 36 seconds faster.Zwift Insider
These results indicate that full upgrades enhance the Tron Bike’s speed on both flat and hilly courses.
Even if you make it so it takes so many more hours to upgrade the Tron, I’d love to just keep riding the Tron instead of the other Zwift bikes, which aren’t that interesting, TBH
You’re asking for something that already exists.
Upgrade three other Zwift bikes to their max. That’ll unlock the ability to upgrade the Tron.
The fact that you don’t like that is a you problem.
You forgot to add this in your information “ the Concept Z1 just barely edges out the top aero performers, gaining ~1 second across an hour of flat riding.
Those top aero performers, though, handily beat the Concept Z1 on climbs, which means you may not want to use the Concept Z1 in a race that has any significant hills”….
Looks like ChatGPT has had some use here.
really looking forward to autumn when everyone has upgraded bikes and i’m stuck on the (s)lowest frame
yeah. Zwift insider made a usefull post about that
Is the info already out there at how much elevation in a race is needed for the road bikes to gain an advantage over the tron ?
Is that 100m, 250m 500m or more climbing ?
The question you need to ask is, all these test are done using the zwift 32mm carbon wheelset. How does using the best wheelset give you even more advantage on the Concept Z1…
There are tests of Tron vs other top bikes with wheel upgrades too - Speed Tests: Concept Z1 (Tron) Bike vs Top Performers | Zwift Insider
This is also done without the upgrades…
