We have two very exciting new wheelsets to announce in Zwift game version 1.92. These are among the fastest wheelsets available in Zwift (and also IRL).
Wider, higher, lighter: the ARC 1100 DICUT 65 wheelset is the best choice when you are in a breakaway group and looking for the best aero-to-weight ratio. The v-shaped 65 mm high rim, combined with the AERO 111 front wheel tire, makes your favorite bike faster and will not let you down in the final sprint!
The innovative AERO 111 tire on the ARC 1100 DICUT 85 front wheel and the ARC 1100 DICUT DISC rear wheel is your perfect companion for super-fast rides and new high speed challenges. Take the lead and go for your personal victory.
Note: These wheels replace the previous DT Swiss wheels in the Drop Shop.
If you already owned the ARC 1100 DICUT 62 or ARC 1100 DICUT DISC wheels, they’ll remain in your Garage, but the older models are no longer available to purchase.
Personally though, if the new wheels don’t colorshift like the originals did, I imagine we’ll still see plenty of people use them over the new ones.
This is the reason why folks use some of the Zipp color wheels over the DTS wheels; purely for aesthetic reasons.
Personally I find these uglier than the previous ones, and for that reason alone, I see myself using the legacy ones at times. And it’s worth noting, legacy items make people jealous. (See items you can’t unlock or bikes you can’t buy anymore).
A feature improvement could be getting more frequent punctures with particularly “fast” tyres.
I used to use the Turbos and had frequent punctures, but I stuck with them because they had nice grip. Nowadays with Pirelli it’s not an issue. Great all round tyre. So the Project 74 folks could be very fast, but also have punctures to slow them down sometimes.
I believe first wheel to use the S TR sidewall decal at least.
IIRC other wheels do use that same GP normal texture (which… is definitely no GP5000)
I’m happy to see more normal maps in textures being added into Zwift (the jerseys have one now too). Still waiting on the day Roughmets are added to the graphics engine though so we can get shiny vs matte bikes.
And chrome… finally some real / faux chrome on things like the Safety… one day, I’ll continue to dream.
The ENVE 8’s on Vittorias, still, I think the only wheels in game with this tire:
Crap you beat me to it; I was going to ask, I wonder if the Rovals use the Turbo tires.
I’m fairly positive the CADEX wheels do use CADEX tires which have a LOT of texture on them.
Honestly, tire textures are just another thing that would be “neat” if we could change. I don’t care about performance, but one of those little things I wish we could change for the fun of it.
I’d like to see more clear / tanwall tires in Zwift.
Having the option to use tanwalls would be mint.
Roval CLX64 has the classic S-Works Turbo clincher tyres on it with the coloured stripes. I just had a look at the two spare tyres in my cupboard and matches perfectly. Roval Alpinist doesn’t have any special tyres.
