New Climbing Graphic

Please, please allow us to disable the new climbing graphic. It doesn’t seem entirely accurate, it appears duplicative with the gradient number that already exists, and it is incredibly distracting. All you can look at (literally) when it activates is the graphic. On top of everything else, it tends to psych me out instead of helping.

zwift have said they will add a toggle for it but until then, if it really bugs you can add this to the active graphics config file.

set g_elevationProfile_DetectionDistanceCM=0

Thank you, Steve.

When did they add this? I don’t recall seeing any updates on it being added as an option.

With HUD update, some months ago (don’t know exactly, perhaps Nov?).

I think they’re talking about the bit at the bottom (Elevation Display Sensitivity)

I think that is new.

I’m talking about the Elevation Display Sensitivity options, seems like it was silently added at some point.

I rarely go in Settings, and probably hadn’t since the revised HUD options were added to allow configuration of Avg power, etc.
I did see that new setting the other day when I had to reinstall Zwift on my Mac Mini to allow the companion app to connect to Zwift. I thought it was new, but I wasn’t sure when it was introduced.
I sure don’t recall seeing it when the new HUD options were introduced. If it was there, there would not have been this request to turn it off after the new HUD was released.

Hi folks, the Climb Display Sensitivity setting is still under development and was unintentionally enabled prematurely - we turned it off again for now but we’ll be back soon with a formal announcement once it’s ready to go live.

Hopefully “always on” along with a redesign to make it vertically smaller and have transparency is going to be part of this effort

As well as actually show the elevation for route selected, not just the “road ahead”.

Does this still work to disable?

Yeah, personally I like the current climbing graphic, so I won’t be turning it down or off, though it could potentially use a bit of a smaller treatment, but I currently don’t find it bothers me when it’s there.

But, ideally they could figure out how to show it for the route you’re on rather than the road ahead which… might not be the route you’re on. That’s the change I’d like to see,

Also, I would also like it to stay on for the duration of any KOM segments. There are a bunch of KOM segments that level off mid-way through the KOM, but I’m trying to pace my effort for the full KOM, so losing the elevation graph feels wrong during a climbing KOM even if it levels off a bit in the middle.

Confirming that we are looking into improving the climb display’s look-ahead capability as well :+1:

Should do.

Hi all, the Climb Display Sensitivity setting is now available in Zwift game version 1.84.0 which is rolling out this week and should be available to all Zwifters by the end of the week pending no unexpected issues.

Is there any further development planned for this? e.g. always-on, less-obtrusive?

Always on with a transparent background would be great

I know why we have rollouts, but why am I always Friday night or early Saturday every time? Can’t I get a Wednesday or Thursday once in a while?

Noticed on London Fox Hill climb that what appeared to be the top of the hill (orange transition to blue) when arriving at the blue section it suddenly changed to orange and there quite a bit more climb to do. Did two laps of TDZ week 1 short ride. It happened both times.
