When I ride on Zwift, my companion app no longer connects to the ride I’m doing. It does not show my map, does not allow me to give thumbs up, text riders next to me and to look at their face page - just stays on the home page. I hope this part of the app wasn’t eliminated in the new version.
I use an iPad to drive the zwift app show my route but use my iPhone for the companion app.
Hi @Kurt_O_Conn
This is Haziel from Zwift. Thanks for sharing your concern about the map not displaying properly, and I’m here to help you through this.
One common cause for this issue can be the connection between your iPad and iPhone. Please double-check that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and on the same frequency band (either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). If your iPhone is using mobile data, that could also be a factor, so try turning off mobile data or switching on Airplane mode while keeping Wi-Fi enabled.
It’s also important to ensure that the Zwift Companion app has the necessary local network permissions. You can check this by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network on your iPhone. If you don’t see the app listed there, uninstalling and reinstalling it might help prompt the permission request.
Lastly, a simple restart of your iPad, iPhone, and Wi-Fi router can work wonders in refreshing the connections.
I truly hope this helps resolve the issue so you can get back to enjoying your Zwift experience, and if you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us
I assume they are on the same wifi network? One thing iphone users can try is disable the wifi assist which I believe uses the mobile network if the signal is poor. Another thing to look at is the netwprk configuration, does your wifi have both a 2.4 and a 5ghz connection? Make sure they are both on the same one. You can also restart all the network equipment tonsee if that helps clear it up.
