It’s hard to know what you mean by “what is selected.” What point in the exit process are you talking about? Any chance you can upload a photo of what you’re seeing?
Purely guessing here but, since this is TV OS, I’m guessing he means that there is no highlight, or anything else, to let him know that the ‘exit’ option has focus. On a PC/Mac the user would click on the icon; on a tablet or phone the user would tap on the exit icon; but on Apple TV, with it’s finicky remote, the user has to sort of ‘hope’ that they have the icon highlighted.
After I select the Menu button, the Save and End Ride buttons are highlighted with a white border when I select them with the ATV remote. The selected button has an animated pulse.
Ride Report screen: the OK button does the same thing with the white border and pulse.
The Save your Ride screen: the Save button pulses and has a white border.
After the activity is saved, it returns me to Home Screen. When I exit the app through the exit door icon, the Exit the Game? screen shows up.
Back and I’m Done are the two choices here. The highlighted button grows visibly in size, but doesn’t have a white border.
The prompt has two buttons - exit app, and cancel. On initial load of that prompt, I struggle to see which button is selected… so I move the selection around to be sure. Convention is that cancel would be the default selection.
The growth in the button is pretty small because it just has a small extra border added to it. It would help a lot if the border was white rather than just a slightly different shade of the button colour. I know, myself, that I’m Done is the default but I can understand the unclear highlighting making some users unsure on which button is selected.
You’re right. Initially these buttons look to be the same size and only when you move the Apple TV remote does it grow in size.
These also do not match the white-outlined buttons and animated pulsing of the buttons earlier in the save-an-activity flow, and I think personally that consistency would be nice.
