Make apple watch app work or stop offering it in app store

Sorry, I’m mad right now, trying to connect my watch to Zwift for 15 minutes….

This is the 3rd time this week the Apple Watch won’t connect for pulse measurement. I know of the alternative apps and tips and tricks that were discusses here since a few years.

Why in the world do you still offer the Zwift Apple Watch app if it’s such a pain for so many users. It’s pure frustration.

And what I don’t get: Once it’s connected it usually stays connected for as long as you have the Desktop app open so there must be an issue with the initial paring where it usually shows SELECTED for a few second and then gets unpaired again.

I use the most predictable setup ever. mac Mini + iPhone. How is it so hard to test against that? Or if it’s on Apple side, just say so and recommend alternatives.

PLEASE just stop offering the app when you are not able to support it. It ruins the otherwise nice Zwift experience for me.

In the initial announcement where they discussed apple watch not being supported I believe they said they were going to pull the app. Then that didn’t happen for whatever reasons.

My guess is that the watch works for some set of people… somehow with some configurations, and they believe pulling the app will be net negative as a result. I have no idea why fixing the connection issues is not possible given the watch works fine for my concept 2 rower as well as via the 3rd party app workarounds.

You’re certainly better off using a normal HRM, even if it’s a $35 optical arm band. Second way people get the Apple Watch working is using a third-party app such as HeartCast or Echo, to make it behave more like a normal HRM. This is the explanation for the current state of things from one of the Zwift co-founders:
