I’m at lvl 66 but have 522k xp. I am getting acceleration it says until lvl 94. But at my current rate even with the 20% discount I won’t reach lvl100 until I’m at 868k. Shouldn’t I be at lvl 100 by 807k?
Is something wrong?
It depends on how much XP you accumulated while you were maxxed out on XP levels, which Zwift “banked” but forces you to earn a second time at a “discounted” rate.
For example, I earned a slug of XP after reaching Level 50, back when that was the highest XP level. At my current 884,000 XP, I should already be Level 100, but because I have to earn back my banked XP, according to Zwift I’m only at Level 82.
Like you, I’m getting accelerated leveling, but I still won’t reach Level 100 until I have 1,089,458 XP… even though brand new users starting out today will reach it with just 807,000 XP! Even with “accelerated leveling”, Zwift requires me to earn 25% more XP to get to the same level. Pretty frustrating, ain’t it?
Whether that’s a fair way for Zwift to treat their longest and most loyal users or not is left as an exercise for the reader.
Zwift chose to do this to max-level users all three times they added new XP levels. But IMO it would be really nice if they figured out a better way to do it next time.
When you’re in a level transition, the experience points (XP) you need to earn for your next level are actually discounted by 20%. To determine the level you are transitioning into, we compare the XP you earned to reach your current level with the new, reduced amount needed to reach the same level due to the rebalancing of XP values.
For instance, if you had accumulated 750,000 XP while on level 60 before the rebalancing, you would remain at level 60. However, since level 60 now requires only 310,500 XP, you would have 439,500 XP remaining. We use that difference of 439,500 XP to help lower the amount you need to earn to progress to subsequent levels by 20%.
During this transition, you’ll notice an icon on the MENU screen that indicates the level you’re working toward, featuring two chevrons: >>. Once you reach your target level, you might find that you have some leftover XP (less than 20% of what you need for the next level). Don’t worry, any remaining XP will be automatically deducted from the total required to advance to the next level.
