Is there a reason why some events change the advertised course/route at the last minute?
I’ve changed my ride schedule around a bit while on leave to try and knock off a couple of elusive event only badges and each time the courses have been changed to normal routes as the start time approaches.
So frustrating when you’ve made a plan
For most community organized events, you have 5 or 6 days to go in to the event and make the changes after the next week’s event is created.
For instance:
The series I do is Wednesday, but we have a late slot that Zwift counts as Thursday, so the 4th event doesn’t show up until Friday. I generally try to change the course on Friday, but sometimes I don’t have access to a computer over the weekend, so it might not happen until Monday or Tuesday. I’m usually pretty good - but I totally get how it happens. There are a few Sunday series I know of that are never done until Saturday.
As Craig wrote: Many events on the Zwift schedule are weekly events. They automatically appear on the schedule the next day after the last event for the upcoming slot with the same settings as for the latest event. If this event is on different routes each week, the route needs to be changed manually every time. Sometimes the organizer has to find a leader for the upcoming event first and the leader might want to ride a different route, etc. This might take some time, so the route might not be changed until one or two days before the event. This is not good and a well organized club should be able to set the events up properly in time, but sometimes live happens.
There are also routes they may wish to use that cannot be selected by the organizer, so they have to contact the events team and wait for someone with privileges to do it.
Two events this week changed just a couple of hours before the event,
They were originally set to be on courses that clubs can’t select as a club ride or workout.
London Flat and Queens Highway After Party.
I suspect that the London Flat one was some kind of mistake since my understanding is it’s completely unavailable for events at this time. Queens Highway After Party is available but has to be enabled by the events team last I checked. I’m not sure why that one was changed - you would have to ask the event organizer.
That’s possible when events are created individually and in advance, not set up as weekly recurring events (even if they appear to be at the same time each week). This can be requested by the organizer but it means the event will disappear from the calendar when the series they created is done, unless they make another request for more events.
