Same issue in the Wahoo app or only in Zwift?
i Did a Testride on Wahoo app & it sounds correct there.
When i set to 150w it’s always about 140 / 145 / 150 /155 / 160
It’s by far more realistic than in Zwift & it feels stable when i am riding…
Some things you can try:
-
If you are not using Apple TV, you can upload a Zwift log file to zwiftalizer.com to see if you are having connectivity problems between the trainer and Zwift
-
Try pairing it via Bluetooth or ANT+ and see if the issue still happens
Thx

I will try to connect via Bluetooth next time. Maybe it helps
That looks very clean
Looks like you were connected only on BLE…try it with ANT+.
If you have a friend with any Powermeter Pedals it would be good to do a Dual Recording Comparison.
I think Direct Connect shows up as BLE in zwiftalizer?
Would be good to try all the options though. macOS comes with built-in ANT+ drivers and the dongle is cheap, so it takes no effort to try it
I would buy the one with the extension cable unless you have one already
BLE is only connected the steering function on zwift.
the others are connected to direct wifi connect.
Can this be a problem? → My MacBook Pro is connected to 5Ghz WIFI & the Kick Bike Shift is connected to my 2,4Ghz WIFI?!
Should i connect all via Bluetooth?
thx for the info. i am using my standard 172,5mm Crank lengh on the shift
This is normal because the bike only supports 2.4GHz WiFi
I would try every pairing option available to you
Regarding crank length, verify that the 172.5mm length is also selected in the Wahoo app settings for the bike
is there any solutions for this? - i am new on the kickr bike shift & this sucks totally.
always when i gear up, it feels so hard for 1-3 seconds zu ride…
i changed my gear settings to 50/34 & 11-42 to hope it’s better, but i feel no difference…
11-42 is a fairly big range with decent jumps in the middle try a closer range in gears.
Also try direct connect, I had that sudden wall feeling but once I got my gearing right I hardly notice it. I run 12 speed 52/34 11-28 (might be 10-28) on the Shift and the gearing feels much smoother.
I was trying to copy my TT gearing and both 54 & 53 just didn’t feel right so knocked it back to the above and it just felt better.
Thx for this news.
Do you habe also jumps when you are on ERG Modus? Watts are jumping extreme and does not hold the watts what it shows.
How is your trainer difficulty set in Zwift?
Do you feel on the shift it‘s harder to reach your Watts or Trainings when you ride?
Thx for help
Kickr shift bike is a broken product. Too much poor coding in the firmware trying to make adjustments to the magnetic resistance and it can’t do it quick enough or accurate enough.
You will be better off and have a more realistic ride with an older smart trainer (not wahoo) think Elite or Tacx.
Send the SHIfT back to wahoo.
I haven’t got my gear ratio to hand, but I think I selected the highest number of possible gears with Di2 synchro. I don’t get the big jumps. I have my trainer difficulty set at 100%, but 50% for races.
ERG mode is not as good as my Kickr v5, but I found putting the bike in the lowest gear before starting makes it acceptable. GP Lama also mentions this as a workaround in one of his review videos. Also check ERG smoothing in on in the Wahoo app.
Disagree that it’s a broken product. I’d hate to go back to a trainer with a bike attached. I’d be lost without my shift.
But, why is wahoo not working on improvement to the software for ther shift bike? - it’s the first and easiest way to solve some issues there.
Is a normal wahoo kickr Bike better than a kickr bike shift? - or have these products both this issues?
Thx for info. i set my trainer difficulty close zu 20% so i have to gear up/down less than on 50% or 100%
It’s also no solution for me to switch back to my kickr core & my bike. I sold both 2 Weeks ago.
i wonder why whoo does not do anything with there software, when they know, its not perfect!
I believe ERG mode will never be as good as other trainers due to the design of the shift, see this post https://forums.zwift.com/t/kickr-bike-shift/621705/30
I’ve seen that statement from Wahoo mentioned on other sites as well.
it’s a shame, if this info is on the kickr bike shift technical site, i would have never bought a kickr bike shift.
What can i do now… the kickr bike shift is not a “cheap” product.
