I have been doing a few races recently and today I checked my Racing Score and it had jumped over 90 since my last race. I did 4 TDZ rides, 100km Thursday ride, and 1 DNF Race(from dropout), so idk what happened.
Maybe it was the 5.7wkg/426w for 5 minutes you squeezed out on 15th January?
I jumped 96 points after the three Tiny Races on Saturday: 273 to 369. Probably a combination of 5 minute power and finishing positions in the top 10 in a field of 90. It is what it is and just need to go with the flow. I wish Zwift would spread the power seeding out a little more similar to ZRS V1. Maybe 2 minute and 10 minute. 30 second power is only in sprints but 2 minute is like the short climbs where us Diesels get dropped.
That wasn’t in a race though, and it was two separate efforts. I am not super familiar with how racing score works, so I wouldn’t know whether that changes anything.
Power PRs can affect your seed score. It doesn’t matter what kind of activity it is. If the PR is real then the adjusted score is valid. If it’s not real then you need to figure out what went wrong with your trainer and talk to Zwift about correcting it afterwards.
its mostly stickywatts, cause I have a problem with that…
stickywatting is hard not to do, especially for me because I have decent 10-20 second power, so I can keep up the power. I am working on quitting tho
What are you using for power measurement?
I suspect that racing against the stronger competition will help teach you to pedal. Personally I back off the power and soft pedal a lot but I don’t stop moving my feet. It’s still possible to rest at the times when it makes sense. Today I got well and truly smoked in the TdZ long event, time about 1:21, 37 seconds of coasting.
That was your best 5 minutes in that ride, as shown on Zwiftpower.
I ride a stages SB20, but we also have a stationary bike that has pedals for power measurement that is almost impossible to sticky watt on because of how braking works, and I have and will be using that more often, for that reason
I also own a StagesBike SB20 (which my wife rides now, I use a Wahoo trainer these days) but never had a problem with sticky Watts when paired to the crank arm and avoiding coasting. Stages (RIP) said that when pairing to the bike instead of the crank arm, sticky Watts is more common. Given that it’s an event-based power meter my suspicion is that you could get sticky Watts either way if you ride it wrong.
Your power meter pedals are almost certainly able to produce sticky Watts as well. If you really want to avoid that possibility, get one of the mainstream smart trainers and put a bike on it.
yeah, its more of a bad habit I’ve got into doing on hills and when I am getting dropped, but the other stationary bike we have has a flywheel directly connected to the pedals so even when you stop pedaling the flywheel will push the pedals, resulting in your power output being 20 wats or so. the only way to do it would be pushing the brake really hard, and since I don’t want to do it, it works well.
