Jet Black Victory

It seems much better so far. I’ve only done two rides on the latest FW last night, but no dropouts and the trainer connected in Zwift straight away. Before, there was some hesitation, as if it was struggling to find the connection. I didn’t have time to do a spin down calibration before the TDZ rides started, but the power data doesn’t seem too bad and it looks like it got closer on the second ride, after a bit of coasting and auto calibration:

This looks very promising! Mind if I ask what is the other power meter you are using to compare? I have the Assiomas and the Victory would always read higher (firmware 4.12.0).

Just a follow up that after putting a USB bluetooth antenna on my laptop and not using the internal one, my connection to the trainer seems more stable after a couple rides.

It’s a 4iiii left-sided crank-arm power meter - I think it’s called the Precision 3+.

Thanks. Maybe I’ll have a go at that newer firmware and see if the power readings line up for me as well. :crossed_fingers:

Turns out there is a new preview firmware, version 4.12.10 ( code to enter 04_12_10 ). I became aware of this by chance as I had a Zwift race today and thought I would chance entering in the later code number. Turns out there was a new preview version.
With it being a race today, I was nervous that Wi-Fi would drop (big issue when racing) out or experience low cadence (not really an issue but nice to correct correct rpm). I am delighted to say that Wi-Fi connection was stable and I did not experience any incorrect 1/2 cadence readings.

I did notice that if you freewheel, the cadence number never really went to zero. It would drop by about 20 rpm but never go to zero.

One other bug I noticed but not JetBlack related is with play controllers connecting after completing one ride and starting another. I saved my race and Zwift went back to home screen. I click my profile and then it present connection screen. Connections were made but when I went to my route, no gearings were detected and I could not change gear.
I have experienced this many times and fix seems to be to fully close the Zwift app after event 1, then re-open if you plan to do event 2.

Over on reddit;

Good comms afaik. With a small staff, it must have been very difficult to address day1 issues for a vocal user base. Kudos for doing their best.

Massive drop in watts. Someone in Discord told me about the 4.12 update. Did that and did a new calibration. Power jumped back up. Then today try riding and power way down again. Reading here about 4.12.10 update so figure I will try it. JB app on android phone says I am on 4.9 (!), and offers update to 4.12. App immediately crashes. Tried several times before giving up. Then download JB app on iPad, which says that my firmware 4.9 is up to date. Tried entering 4.12 and told error.

Ah, if Play controllers are ignoring Shimano gearing options than maybe it’s at least partially intentional even if it was released early or without any fanfare.

So does the Click only allow Sequential shifting? Or can you actually press both buttons at the same time to shift the “front” aka SRAM-style?

Running 4.12.0 and 4.12.9 (haven’t tried the 4.12.10) and my power is about 3-5W lower than my Quark Power Meter which is perfectly reasonable.

With 4.9, the power was roughly 15w-20w lower. I retested it again last night with 4.12.9 just to be sure and it was, again, very close.

I’m not sure if I’m imagining this or not, but with 4.12.9 firmware, it seems like the power is more stable. It almost seems like they are sampling the power more consistently on the pedal stroke instead of grabbing some off-phase variations. I have a decent L/R imbalance (53/47) so my little graph in Zwift is sometimes a little jagged on the JBV, but my ride last night it seemed smoother. Again, very unscientific.

thanks for this, I think my power is less but don’t have the ability to confirm. All I know is last winter on a Zwift Hub One my FTP was 287 and I seriously doubt I can do that on the Victory based on a my Zwift Group Rides I have done. I will just wait for the roll out on Monday and see if I notice anything.

I would be the first to acknowledge it could very well have been my old trainer was too generous with power #'s.

Yeah the having to force close the app after the event (any ride once you go back to user selection screen actually) to get shifting back is my last major issue and I think this is unique to AppleTV/iOS (maybe Android too?), its been mentioned here

I assume these firmwares are still beta? I’ve only seen 4.9 in the app.

There is an app issue with newer versions of Android. Try on older version of Android or on an iOS device.

Beta yes but if you want you can enter code in the preview firmware section. New 4.13 to be released in a day or two so might be best to wait for that general release.

Cheers Jim, glad it’s not just me or related to JBV. I would say it is a Zwift game/controller issue.

I would assume this is a Zwift issue since the Play Controllers do not link through the JB app. I have found that if I hold the BT buttons for a few seconds that I can connect without rebooting my appleTV between events on Zwift.

Anyone tried the new 4.13 firmware yet? Had an email this morning

Mine had been working well (about 3 weeks), but today I got my first disconnect after about 90 minutes of riding, wasn’t too big a deal since I was in the cool down section of a workout so I did power off/on reconnect and finished my workout. I wasn’t going to bother with the next firmware update because I’m in the middle of a training plan and it had been working flawlessly, but I guess I’ll give it a go when it’s released.
